a) not a shortscale.
b) more expensive than you could get a mint one for on the 'bay, so not much of a deal either.

Wasn't too sure about how this site works, at the Squier '51 site we try and post what's available as they are becoming more popular for those who missed out when they were first released. It helped me break even when selling mine and a fan of the '51 in Sweden got what he wanted as I wasn't reluctant to ship there. Someone also listed a Jazzmaster as a short scale in a reply to my first post here so I'm still not sure as some models have numerous scale lengths.
Also like I found with a Fender Lead III who someone linked to a post at another site that I had initiated for a Lead III. One in Minneapolis (I'm in N.J.) which after a while no matter what it was listed for originally the seller neglected to edit the price and I was able to get it cheaper once replying to the ad.
I thought "short scale" and "offset" were synonymous, as you can see I was wrong.
I'm new to Fender/Squier models other than the Lead Series or Strats/Teles and early 80's Bullet models, thus the reason I joined both this site and the "offset body" site. Actually I believed I visted both when looking for "surf guitar" info when I joined "
www.surfguitar101.com" nearly a year ago.

white pickguard on black is always a snoozefest.

no fuckin way. maybe on a strat it is because it's so ubiquitous but there's something extremely classy about it on any other guitar.

it's a much less common look than one would think.

I don't like it on any guitar. ubiquitous affinity strats and telecasters have ruined white on red and white on black for me. The white guard was the first thing to go on my `51.

yeah, don't get me wrong, love black guards. that black guard on yr '51 is tits. on some guitars white can be very cool though. and it's pretty uncommon on jazzmasters so when you see one it's pretty nice.

Switch out the white pickup covers for black ones and that would look sharp.

there's a 51 modders forum. I'm a member of it. This dude is apparently anti mods though because it hurts the "collectability" of guitars, so i'm nor sure what he's talking about.

Does anyone know the output of the CP jazzmaster pups? I have some Lindy Fralin Texas Special Jazzmaster pups that are hotter than Vintage spec Jazzmaster and was curious how they compared to the CP Jazzmaster pups.
Lindy Fralin Texas Special Jazzmaster Neck : 8400
Lindy Fralin Texas Special Jazzmaster Bridge : 9400

Odd, was thinking the same thing, as well as the whole "White on Black" looking boring. Tort would definitely be better.
