Help me out shortscale, a friend of mine wants to buy a telecaster, he wanted the highway american telecaster, but we bot have played the mexican baja telecaster, and love it. So, is the extra 50 euros for the american tele worth it?

First, is there a good reason he's not looking at the Squier Classic Vibe series? Cause they DESTROY the MIMs quality-wise.

no. highway 1s are junk compared to the baja. if you're gonna go american, get a standard or vintage reissue.

If I had a choice of any tele out there, I would probably get a MIM 50s classic. If I had to pay for it myself I would get the Squier CV.

Everything you hear about the CVs is true. I have a CV Thinline and a CV 50, both are incredible examples of guitars. I can't even believe that they're CIJ. It's almost impossible to tell with how they sound and play.
Really, I won't be getting rid of mine any time soon.

Yeah, lots of people don't like the neck, but I'm pretty fine with it.
I just can't take rosewood anymore. The tone isn't bad, but it sucks up all the humidity and makes every neck absolutely crazy, so I try to stay away from it.

whaaaa? maple necks with RW fretboards react to humidity than maple necks with no additional fretboard material? i only have RW guitars, and i'm yet to have any neck issues.
also, i have one of those wooden guards that i got when my 5th grade teacher retired. i still have it somewhere.

I think I just have a stroke of bad luck. But the way these all maple necks are finished (aka, encased in carbonite) it makes it really hard for them to be affected as easily.
At least in my house, anyway. As soon as Spring/Summer comes, the necks start going crazy.

That's definitely something to do with your climate/swamp house. Those CV necks have so much tint/sun screen on them that I doubt they'll naturally wear through to anything resembling wood anytime soon
