well after a big long wait, the jag-stang has finally arrived!!!
she's wonderful, i had never seen/touched a jag-stang in person and i always said these are butt-ugly guitars. and i thought they were HUGE (in size).

but no, it's actually a quite small guitar, very confortable weight and a -yes- SPECTACULAR delicious neck. wow. though i must say, it feels pretty much exactly like my '70 blue comp'stang's neck... yum.
the color is DELICIOUS oh so wonderful and the guitar's shape is not really THAAAT ugly in real life.

mickie sent the guitar in one piece, and once more i re-assured WHY i prefer that the guitars are sent with the neck-off; the neck had somehow "shifted" to one side, so the low E sting would hang over the fretboard side where the neck meets the body, and the high E would have almost a centimeter of fret "excess". but i took the neck off and screwed it back on right and now it's much better, no prob! :D
the body (neck cavity) is stamped NOV96 and the neck JAN97, so it's a rather early one. wonderful wear marks (though the MOP layer on the guard if falling off!), and one HUGE chunk in the butt. no prob. i'll continue the abuse... heh heh

the volume pot is dead dead and i've already removed it and given the guitar an in-depth (once in a lifetime, then never again! it's my ritual) cleansing and i'll put a pot back in there tomorrow when the kid's outta the house with mom. already gave 'er a nice set-up.

can't wait to plug 'er in and rock 'er out. big time!

thanks mickie, it's been all great. i love teh SS forum and its people. now all i need is some of them picks... ;)

man i can't put that thing down.
stay tuned for pics etc.

rock on!!!

Pat.

ps: quite unique maybe, that it is a '96/7 guitar with a V-serial number, but it's "crafted in japan" instead of "made..."
must be one of the first ones to carry that one, eh?

welcome to the club. i will never sell mine. mine is a T# SN.

one of the first ones ever made. the neck on it is the neck i will base all other guitar necks on and fail when they suck. I have been playing the thing for 15 years now and the neck on it is "the one"

Nice one Pat glad you like it. Mine's a '97 A serial and like robroe I'll never sell it, it just feels right. Look forward to your demo!

Dont you know the story? No-one rocks as hard as Ultratwin, we all thought the incident with lighter fuel was a bit over the top though..

I assume you mean an "untoasted" version. Simply stated, portrait artist's house burns down. Guitar is salvaged...at a cost. The carcass becomes a canvas for modern art. I've played it, and it's fine if you close your eyes.

Teh long story.

Shush.

Mickie got a good deal on this and spread the love to the shortscale community, of which Pat is a very loved member. This is a nice story come full circle and the pictures and Pat's comments are well worth the threadspace - far moreso than your comment.

nicely said mike, and deeply appreciated! :D and, good to have you back... this place was quite a bit different w/o you!

Matt, yes it's a 100% stock (except that early 70s volume pot i put in there) jag-stang. but it MEANS much more than "just another one" to me. but you prolly wouldn't understand, so i'll just leave it here.

Pat.

So what are your plans for it? Slapping in a JB and calling it a day? (I.E. every JS ever)
