after a fruitless endeavor in vintage style kluson replacement for my little e on my jaguar, i've decided to just replace them all.
does anyone know the specifics for replacing them? different bushings, etc. anyone have any recommendations for a direct swap?
i've been looking at these:
GFS Wilkinson Kluson style
GFS Kluson style
they say for strats and teles, so i'd assume they won't fit. aside from buying fender replacements, any suggestions?
cheers dudes.
(ps - when i do replace them, i'll be doing a side by side photo comparison between it and the vista jagmaster. FYI.)

they are a direct swap. I like the one's you can get on eBay (or WD Music if you want to waste your money) that are Kluson branded. but those wilkinson ones are probably good too. I had the 6-in-line wilkinson tuners and they were great.

i saw that too, but it says right in the descritption:
These are great machines- I've used them on everything from cheapo knock-offs to genuine USA guitars, and they're terrifically smooth. These have SPLIT Shafts exactly like vintage fender tuners! This is a great way to get to vintage look with modern stability and smoothness...
to be honest, i'll probably just get the wilkinsons. do not want white buttons on my faux-vintage jag with bright red tort.

Sorry to get off topic, nice guitar! Is that a lace sensor in the bridge or just the regular pickup with a mustang cover?

I've just put a set of Klusons on my strat, and would recommend them every time; had some Wilkinsons on my SG for a while, and these are definitely a cut above. The only thing you'll find is that they rattle a little in the collets: that's because MIJ guitars will have metric fittings and Klusons are imperial. Since I use the trem all the time, I wanted tuning stability to be as solid as possible, so I pushed the old collets out, reamed out the holes a touch with a drill bit (just by hand, using it like a file) then put the new ones in. By twatting them repeatedly with a child's wooden block. Be aware that while this is OK on a wooden headstock, on a painted headstock it would wreak havoc.

i will have to size everything up when i get 'em, but that's for the heads up, bene.
looks like i'll be doing a side by side, rod von beer style post sooner than expected.

yes, they are my favorite as well. I just sold a set to stewart.
it's worth noting that Kluson is in fact no longer extant. WD Music now owns the Kluson name and has those manufactured. they're still not "vintage correct" exactly. the size of them is not quite right and you can see the plastic washer around the shaft inside the cover. they're probably the closest to vintage that's available though.
