Squier Supersonic

Post by argylelewis »

Hi, first post here but I thought it'd be as good a place as any to post it.

A couple of years ago I bought a battered supersonic on ebay and have sicne had it refinished professionally in it's original olympic white colourway and modded it a little. It has jazzmaster pickups, new pickguard to fit this mod and a Fender toronado bridge. The previous owner had routed the body but this has been cleaned up when it was refinished and i put the toronado bridge on as I preferred it over the rusty strat type that was in there.
I will post pics of it tonight or tomorrow as I'm at work at the moment but basically I'm looking to swap it for a non reverse fender or squier vista, (modded or otherwise) as I've had it a while and I'm starting to grow tired of the reverse body in all honesty. I cant access the classifieds at the moment hence why I though it best in here.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum - looking forward to the photos.

However attempting to do deals this early in your tenure is unlikely to do your credibility any good. We have a posting limit on Classifieds to protect our users from flight-by-night posters who just want to rip off a community (we're not saying this is what you're up to), but you must understand that with the anonymity the Internet affords people, bad apples will spoil the bunch.

So welcome to the boards, stick around and enjoy yourself - and maybe if you do people might be willing to talk to you about trades.

Yeah I understand. The problem being to access the classifieds you have to post a certain number of times and if you don't have much to say I don't want to spam 'hello' or 'yeah' a certain number of times to do this. It is a genuine trade but I can understand your point. I'll stick around though, I just wish I hadn't sold my musicmaster now as the reverse body and neck just isn't appealing to me now no matter how good it plays.

Trade aside - I am sure that most of the forum would be interested to see pictures.

Definitely. I'm interested to know how you fitted the Toronado bridge on the SS. Did you go all out and fill the trem cavity or just mount it on top of it?

I unfortunately didn't go all out, left the trem cavity and put it over it just in case I ever wanted to put a strat bridge back in there. I'll upload pics more likely tomorrow, work wont enjoy me uploading them today.

Especially as of recent there have been people racing to the classifieds. The post limit is there for a reason and by acknowledging it, then blatantly breaking the rule, it seems kind of sketch. This forum is not like an ultimate-guitar forum or anything like that. It is much smaller and the people here actually know each other. Your best bet would be to stick around get to know some people and when you've reached your 50 post - go ahead and try to trade it.

Anyways, welcome. And I'm excited to see pictures.

That's fine and I understand the reason a post limit is there but if you don't want to spend your life posting yes and no on a website just so you can trade your guitar, the short scale section sounds like the next best bet to place it.
I'd love to get to know people on here and maybe trade my guitar, but I think it should be looked upon better that instead of putting it on ebay with a stupid price I have come to a specialist site which i regularly browse to offer it first.
I have always seen the community here as being a small one and it's something while browsing that i have always appreciated but with some of the hostility here in relation to this thread i can see why it is so small.

Hey, ho... hold on now,

I'm not sensing any hostility from this thread. We're all demonstrating some interest your guitar and have welcomed you to integrate the community. This is not a classifieds board, though so if your only interest with us is in shifting your gear, you're barking up the wrong tree.
Making yes/no comments in threads would be as tedious for you to make as it would be for us to read.

But why am I telling you this? If you've been lurking for long enough to recogize us as a tight-knit community, you already know all this.

True, hence why I know your all interested in short scales here and hence why I thought here might be a good place to advertise incase anyone was interested at all.
I'm not here just to shift gear. I'll upload the pictures tonight or tomorrow. Sorry I thought it was just a little hostile everyone referencing the post limit when i mentioned that I knew it in my first post. Oh well, bugger it. I'll upload the pics later and then that will be that.
While I'm here though I sold a 1966 musicmaster on ebay a month or two ago for £400, good deal for me or bad deal?

it'd be best to just simmer it on down a bit. there's plenty of folks here who'd be down for that guitar. just take part in discussions, and most importantly just chill. you won't find a better place to kick it.

really depends on the condition, but you probably could've done better considering where you're from. fenders tend to be at a premium across the pond. however, this crappy economy has really taken its toll on guitars and collectibles as you might imagine, timing definitely plays a factor, too.

welcome to the board. sometimes the post-minimums are a drag, but we've had a few experiences of late with dodgy folks that prove why we employ those rules. can't wait to see your axe!

Yeah I just looked on Ebay and they seem to be asking stupid prices for them but oh well. It was pretty perfect apart from non-original tuners so maybe I didn't too bad.

Sounds like a sweet guitar! Definitely interested in seeing the jazzmaster pickups in the supersonic. Plenty of people will be interested in that supersonic when it hits the classifieds, myself included. If you've any interest in a classic vibe duo-sonic drop me a pm but I'm afraid that's allid have to offer.

+1

Didn't mean to be hostile, if I came across that way. There just have been some people racing to the 50 post marker recently.

I should have probably put it in the project section more as it's not quite finished. The pickguard is a little rough and I'm currently shaping another one. I'll definitely upload some pictures later for you all. The Duo-Sonics look cool, I've never played one but if anyone did want to trade I was hoping more fir a vista Jagmaster or something. Anyway I'll upload pictures and go from there.

I'm pretty interested to be honest, problems being the location and your lowish post count. If I could maybe work out another UKer to be the personal intermediary I'm interested. How much were you wanting to sell it for?
