I just wanna know if I should get a Boss Fuzz FZ-5 or Big Muff. They are my only options. I wanna hear the views of some clever people like you guys cause I am not so big with Technical Guitar Stuff ...

Big Muff is good for fuzz but it doesn't do very good for "crisp" sounding palm muting. It sounds muffled and jumbled up. I don't know how to better explain that. otherwise it's a great pedal. I am referring to the American model as I have never played the Russian one.

I'd get a little big muff if i were you. Theres no volume drop and its true bypass.

How are those two your only options? Hit up the BMP with tone wicker for more versatility. If your local shop only has boss and ehx they can order any product either company has available for you. Plus many online stores ship for free.

FACTS ABOUT THE FZ-5:
Fuzz Face model: the main reason people use a FF is because of how it cleans up with a guitar's volume knob. The FZ-5 cannot duplicate this.
FZ-1A model: ever played an FZ-1A? It's the most effect-y fuzz ever. A total specialty tone; you either get "Satisfaction" or Spaghetti Western. Also, the FZ-5's model of it sucks.
Octavia model: the only decent reproduction. BUT, how many times are you really going to use an octave fuzz before someone you're playing with tells you to please stop?
So based on pure quality of tone, I say Big Muff.
The whole question is faulty, though, because it's apples and stuffed gorilla heads.

I second this, the big muff w/ tone wicker is an amazing pedal. I have one and the added treble boost certainly makes for a lot more 'usability' I guess. Or you could save loads of money and get the behringer super fuzz!

Funny you mention that. Hurb's SuperFuzz demo is working again. I had one and thought it was okay, i only ever used the first mode though. Hate scooped mids and didn't care much for teh boost.

Yeah I see what you mean about the scooped mids, but the guy was interested in a big muff and that has the scoopiest mids in the world (well near enough) and the behringer super fuzz can imitate a big muff pretty well in my opinion...

the superfuzz has a much more drastic mid scoop than either of my big muffs.

I had a fz 3 or fz 4 I can't remember which
I hated it and I couldn't give it away!
took ages to sell.
I Recommend the muff with tone wicker too
(iv got one on my pedalboard)
I really wanna try the blackout fuzz ants
it's 150 squid for a fuzz I can't try before I buy tho.
there's a few other Behringer fuzz's
I think mike had a Behringer Vintage distortion
I think that's a copy of a muff plus it's in a metal case.
We need to know a little more about the sound you want
and a rough budget too

big muffs are huge. also, nobody ever seems to mention the fact that they're NOISY AS FUCK. having said that i like the sound of them, but i've found myself sticking with the dano cool cat fuzz for reasons mentioned back there: small and pretty quiet.

well the behringer is just a clone of the boss fuzz. probably the FZ-2 (which is in turn takes a lot from the Univox Superfuzz). if you don't like that, you're probably not going to like the boss.
the FZ-5 is the worst version of the boss fuzz. it's digital so it's just like a filter that sort of fuzzes up your guitar signal but it doesn't really work like a true fuzz.
