So after fighting with muddy tones and tweaking endlessy, reading about different pots and the difference between pickups height and polepeice height.... and significance that can make.... I decided to ditch the jb jr and re-install the Quarter Pounder 3 that was once fitted in my jag. My goodness, I'm in shock. Why didn't I think this was a great pickup before ?? It has opened everything up... feels like someone has pulled a blanket away from my amp. Cleans are better obviously, but even the dirt is better... love it. Best re-discovery ever !! I reckon like most on here I'm definitely a Single Coil guy... at least on any fenders. Fook them buckers to hell...

On top of this I also swapped out my usual Ernie Ball Slinkys for some Fender Bullets and they seem really nice too... which I was discussing the other day. http://www.shortscale.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33210 Still early days but everything is much brighter which was the main aim.... woohoo...

This was all spurred on from a new love of my jazzmasters sound and my mates 62 Tele re-issue which I've been setting up for him.
So happy, and lastly I don't even feel like I need to buy any new pedals as I've gone full circle and happy with 'my' setup. Yes yes yes !!!

All I need now is a jag pickup cover as I bored a hole in the other for the jb jr...

I really don't like the clean sound I get out of my JB, although it is in the bridge position....

I'm truly amazed at the difference.... I thought a humbucker was what I needed but it really wasn't.

Mine was in the bridge too... the cleans are the most significant difference for sure !!
