i didn't play this guitar for so long i'd forgot evnetho it's tiny and looks like it will sound like ass... it really doesn't. so much more bass than my mustang.

was bored....just improv tuned CGCFAD both pickups, i used an amp sim in GB on marshall setting and the fuzz on one of the fx simulators.

i feel so sorry for it, looks so flimsy lol 100eur hondo II beats mustang that almost costs 10X as much but at particular stuff, mustang shines more in other departments.

i think i will put 12's on the hondo though, want a bit more tension. even thinking when i put on 12's maybe go to BFBEGC though i like that d tuning with the top d to c. it's so efficient. ..or something.

I tuned two of my guitars to drop-C yesterday. Doomy good times.
My Yamaha SG has 12-52 on it, the Sonex brings the metal with 13-56...

A mate of mine is currently wiring up an old hondo Les Paul, stuck some GFS Fat HBs in it... I haven't had the chance to try it out yet, he keeps going nuts trying to get it grounded. I'm curious about it though.
People get all snotty about wood types (his hondo is sheets of laminate) but if you get a sound thats useful, who cares? My beat up Sonex is made of some unholy composite of sawdust and rock hard glue, and it sounds sludgy as hell!

yeah it really doesn't matter, it's always gonna be personal preference of course, if it works for you it works for you who cares what your guitar is made of. i do know i love the pickups in this guitar

btw, drop c you're using CFBEGC ? i'd like to give that a shot and go from C to B on the top string for lazy one finger chords. :P

pickups:

it's all stickered up now, i think i will take off the smurfs sticker it's retarded.

i had a look and turns out i still have a pack of 12-52 lying around.

about pickups, this guitar may be a piece of crap in wood but those pickups make you forget that, it's so good with dirt. very bassy but lots of defenition.
with my mustang it always sounds a bit 'boxed'. this one sounds much more open and lots more harmonics happening. the feel of the mustang feels more quality but hondo feels comfy too, i love the neck on it. never liked the thin sg style bodies but i got this because i thought it looked cool and it was cheap. glad i did.

Drop C as in D Standard - DGCFAD - with the Low D string dropped to C...
CGCFAD
I usually play in D Standard, but sometimes you want to move some air.

Nice guitar! I like it.

Those are the pickups they used on old Tiescos aswell, they've got a good rep, though Ry Cooder modded many of his guitars with them so people pay heaps on ebay...
