I got a $50 "Teisco" today

Post by westtexasred »

Got it at Music-Go-Round today. It says Melody on the headstock and the model is JB 4 but it looks the same as a Teisco E-100. I had one just like it in 1966 but that one had no name on the headstock. I bought it for $69 at E.J. Korvettes. The salesman said it was made by Yamaha.Yeah, right

It's a really tiny guitar but not a short scale. Its 24.75"

My friend at the TGP has the same guitar

This is another E-100 I used to have. It had a different pickup.Different neck too.

that's actually pretty cool looking. the sunburst is half-way decent for a teisco. usually they have that ugly red burst. is the A string tuner broken?

also, that tailpiece/bridge is interesting..... is there an actual bridge or does the tailpiece just act as a bridge? looks like it has kind of similar adjustment to the early les pauls.

I'll find out after I get some new tuners on it . I have to ask Garrett about his Beltone. That guitar has the same bridge as my Melody.

I got some nobs and tuners for it. Now I can play it. It sounds pretty good.Action is a little high but it can be lowered. Intonation is ok.

The inlays on these are very cool. I wish more guitars did things other than dot inlays.

speaking of inlays on the side, the arrow ones as seen on jet kings are probably one of my favorite inlay variations.
