iv been looking endlessly for a mute for my fender jag.. cant seem to find it. any ideas?

This is an important question since a mute won't work on a Classic Player Jaguar. Neither will a Mustang bridge, for that matter.

Do you have a made in Japan one? Or a US made one?

its a re-issue from this year... i dont think its the japanese model. i wish i had it here with me, i could probably answer these question better

You should start there then, if it's Japanese or US made then you can add a mute and Mustang bridge, if it's a Classic Player from Mexico then you can do neither.

well, what are you looking to do? change the sound? change the look? change the functionality? what type of music are you playing? how far do you want to take this project? you're going to get different answers depending on how you answer these questions and others.

without the benefit of the above info, here is the best advice i can give: if you're a new owner, just play it for a while and figure out what you do and don't like about all of the mentioned aspects. i know and have suffered from the temptation to alter a guitar immediately after buying it, sometimes with good results and sometimes not. in the former case, i already had an idea what i wanted to do before buying the instrument, so there was an established game plan. in the latter, the bad results were always due to not having any idea what i really wanted other than to change the guitar for the sake of changing it (or to replicate what others had done). that's not exactly a mortal sin, but most anybody with experience is going to try and warn you off from that way of thinking.

anyway, just fill us in on some of the other details, and we'll do our best to help get you sorted out. welcome to shortscale!

got it. are you happy with the sound you get? the other questions still apply, too. personally, i only like the pickups found on stock, newer fenders about half the time, so i wouldn't be shocked to find out you hated yours or not.
