.. are they needed on both volume and tone positions? i'm using a Jagmaster with Seymour Duncan 1/4 pounders..
i'm hoping they can add some more brightness, but do they also add bass or just make it clearer?
any UK suppliers selling them? i can't seem to find much, and only solid shaft which means my witch hats wouldn't fit any more

they will let more treble through, what are you using at the moment, if it is 250k try 500k before you jump to 1meg.

yeah, stock 500k Jagmaster pots..
the pickups are pretty bass-heavy anyway, and i just got a Peavey Delta Blues 1x15 combo so i've got bass out the ass
but the amps could generally use a bit more treble anyway. i'm thinking i'll give the 1 Meg pots a go before i go adding another pedal to my setup.
thanks for the link!

Have you just tried cutting the lows and or mids on your amp? I find, particularly with fender tone stacks (which I think the delta blues has) cutting the mids really brightens and instrument up... and that bass can get really out of control fast. Sometimes I use a twin through a 4x12 cab and I really have to cut the bass alot to get a balanced tone when I use some guitars.

Guitar Fetish should have 1/4" 1MEG pots on hand. I've been messing with some 325k pots I found at Radioshack fr single coil guitars and for strat pickups they're having decent results but it's very subtle.

I bought from Project Guitars. Worked fine with the stock knobs on my Jagmaster if a washer was removed (for height)

yeah, this does work. i have the mids cranked, and rolling them back to half makes it more bright, but i really want the mid to punch through. same with the bass.. it's got way too much, but i'm still playing with the amp to some extent to find the perfect setting. i just tend to keep the mids cranked all they time to cut through keep the signal present and somehwat 'compressed'

the 1 megs will just give you more crisp top end, it won't add anything to the mids or cut the bass. humbuckers are really bassy (this is why tubescreamers pair with them really well). some things you can do is cut the lows on your amp or lower the bass side of the pickup or use strings with thinner bass strings. or get new pickups.

Ha! So you want all the frequencies really loud all the time! I'd go nuts if I was the second guitarist in your band (Where's my guitar supposed to sit in the mix!).
Anywho, I thought the quarter pounders were supposed to be full-frequency... that is, they're supposed to give you lots of everything... leaving it up to you to eq your rig the way you want it to sound. Maybe they're not great pups, I've never used them. But I'm wondering if you'll really get more highs out of a different pup, or if it'll just eq out the mids and/or lows so that it appears to have more highs? I mean, as I said, they could just be dark pups, but I don't *think* they're supposed to be.

luckily, i'm the only guitarist in 'the band' (just jamming in a 3 piece at the moment, and recording)
i will tweak my rig some more. i found lowering the bass side of the pickup evened out the full range a bit better, but i still like a big bottom (!), full mids and sparkling highs..
i think what it comes down to is that these pickups are designed for Jazzmasters which already have 1 Meg pots in them. so i get the feeling i'm losing out on some of the 'full range' aspects by using them with the Jagmaster's 500k pots..
