Ok i love the color of my mustang (btw i've confirmed it is a true stang. if you hold up to the right light you can see where the trem was filled up. anyways) but it NEEDS a some stripes to grace it. I'm curious as to what colors you guys think will look good on it. I've got a decent picture here.
The stripe in question is a $10 one from the bay. Its actually on sale at the moment. The color options are "Black, Red, White, Pink, Green, and Gold."
I personally think i like either white or gold. http://cgi.ebay.com/Guitar-Stripe-Vinyl ... 2542wt_941
They also have a video of how to apply. Coincidently the strat in the video is the EXACT same color as my Mustang! lol
So what color do you guys think would look best?

Someday man....I have to say that the strat setup gives me incredible tuning stability and sustain vs the classic bridge and I kinda (functionality-wise) like it better.
Now that i'm thinking of options i'm gonna hold out on the stripe for now. My uncle is a auto body mechanic and works with paint. i've thrown the idea of doing a repaint of teh kurtz' LPB Teen Spirit Mustang.
If i go through with that, i'll rip out the strat bridge and dig out the filler in the trem routes while the paint is off. (the previous guy did a great job filling them btw). Then the routes would be primed for a 70's bridge and trem setup.
Or i may just keep this one the way it is and repaint a "PartStang" so i feel less guilty. I've seen cheap bodies and necks on ebay. plus i have any choice of shortscale neck since i want to paint over the headstock. Then i'll have the Stratostang and a LPB Compstang!
I'm personally leaning toward doing a PartStang now.

exactly. just leave it like that, unless you can get a duo-sonic/toronado/musicmaster bridge of some sort. I wouldn't go out of my way to put a mustang trem on anything. it's not a very good trem.

You have a nice guitar there. Since its not a Comp, leave her as she is. JMHO!

it possibly was a comp at some point. think he said it was a 72 or 73.

71 by the neck date. so its possible it was a comp without a matching headstock

dont put a mustang trem.. the strat setup is way better in tuning way, and yes the sustain is way way better to. it looks ugly, but hey a guitar is to play on, the good looking comes in the other hand...
