Laz Paul has Landed, Pics first post

Post by tomin8r »

Right, so I'm heading off to college and I bought a Corbin LP copy on ebay for like 150 bucks.
Until I can be arsed to fix my strat, its coming with me to college.
Anyone have any experience with Corbin guitars?
I can't find fuck all about them.

Don't know nothing about them but it looks like a heck of a deal for $150.

I'm always sceptical of things like that where there are lots of quite large pictures and they've bothered to sort out a white sheet for a background and to light it all, and then not taken any of the neck joint or back of the guitar. Though, plenty of cheap Les Paul copies are ok in that regard, and they're widely available enough for me to think this one is fine.

It just feels as though they're hiding something

Nice price on a potential winner!

I also think it's safe to say by the look of things that the world has officially run out of "new" 3+3 headstock shapes.

The main reason I got it is to see if a 150 ebay guitar could actually be made to sound decent and playable.
I'm usually pretty skeptical in the same way James is, but I figured, oh well, fuck it I'm going for it.

I've never payed more than £150 for a guitar and I've only ever bought something really crap, which was a Hondo II Les Paul copy that the fretboard peeled off the neck on.

150 Quid in CAD would be about $230 ish

The most I've paid for a guitar would be my Super Sonic at around 600, but I can't really complain, it has THE best neck of any guitar I have played.

The Cheapest would prob be my strat, which still plays good for what it is.

I'm just looking for something I can fuck around with, and possibly convert to Teh Townzhends

Well, the paul has landed
Cheeky little bastard it is. Has that lovely lp weight to it, neck appears to be pretty good, pots prob need a switch, pups arent bad.

Basically, its a 150 guitar, but this is not too shabby for the price, pics up soon.

First impressions are pretty good,
took of the D'addario XL's that were on it, put my usual 13s on it.
Has that Les Paul sound (duh), pots are decent, tuners are stable.
Overall, I quite like it for what it is, and definately for the price.
In the future, it is potentially getting some mini humbuckers, but I don't know if I'm gonna do that yet.

Cheers

Well, I thought I'd post a follow up after playing the Les Paul for a good bit of time.

I put a set of 13-60s on it, and some straplocks. I gigged with it the other day, held up great.

Took the pickguard off to really show the body off, plus the pickguard didn't fully reach the neck binding, so the gap was pissing me off.

Overall quiteeeee pleased with the purchase.

Cheers

How much does it weigh? It seems like it would be either a lot or a little.

^ Why come on this forum and make that your first post? Seems utterly unnecessary.

Not too certain why I'm being considered "trollish".

"Pretty Red" and "Sparkle Ass" are the names of the two guitars Tomin8r posted.

Seeing as I'm his partner and the guitars are sitting right next to me.... I don't see why it's an issue for commenting on it to be my first post, either.
