I have been lurking on this site for several months and have purchased two shortscales, a Squier Duo Sonic and a Jagmaster. I've had fun modifying both, the Duo now has a set of telecaster pickups in it, I'll start another post when I finish it.

The Jagmaster I've added a set of P-Rails and I have two questions about these pickups. First, I've discovered that the Rails sound much better with the bridge pickup reversed, meaning the rail toward the bridge. Installed in the normal manner there is little difference in the tone of the Bridge vs the Neck pickup. Has anyone installed these pickups in this manner and is their any downside to this type of installation?

Second question, does anyone know of a wiring diagram for 3 P-Rails?

I can see why moving the rail closer to the bridge rail closer to the bridge might make it sound better because its fairly far away and relatively weak compared to the p90.

I have these pickups in a Telecaster and they're brilliant, great choice. The wiring can get out of hand FAST though

Wiring three of them into one guitar kind of depends on what type of switching you would like to do. For instance, you can have Push/Pull pots like i have and wire them all up the same way. Or you can have individual mini toggles for each pickup. Theres so many different ways to use these things and thats what makes them so great

in my mind it makes sense to put both rails towards the outside. any reason that's not recommended?

too shrill. if you think about it, bridge pickups generally are never put that close to the bridge. but turned the other way the P90 is put in a more fitting spot. and the P90 will naturally be fuller and the rail thiner anyway so placing them with the P90 towards the bridge will tend to compliment those frequency ranges.

maybe you like thinner rail sounds though? I dunno. you can definitely try it out different ways and see how you like it.
