I saw the CS5 demo today. It is un-fucking-believable. I am sure it costs more than a Smart car, but it is all about app integration and making it easy to use animation and interactivity. You can build Flash animation within In Design, without coding. What that means is that you will start seeing interactive magazines for tablets and mobile devices.

I am sure this is just the ADD talking, but I can imagine a guitar board doing a blog with demos, tutorials, and diagrams, and using Google ads to pay for the upkeep. I am not saying that would be better than the ones that don't, but it could be interesting. Of course I have never even contributed to the wiki.

CS is great but it is SO expensive. I mean, where I work JUST got CS4 5 months ago and there is another one out. They'll probably drop a few thousand dollars to get CS5 for it to get replaced within a year. Ridiculous.

cs4 came out in 2008 so they were pretty late in adapting. if they were smart they would have seen that cs5 was coming out soon enough and held onto their money until it came out.

You can get cs4 for a couple of hundred quid if you know where to look, and it doesn't necessarily mean a hooky copy. Multiple licences are always expensive though. I dunno, i've got cs4 and i probably use about a quarter of the functionality, i suppose it depends what sort of work you're doing.

... and I've only recently completely made the jump to CS3. There's loads of clever stuff in there, and this does seem to be one of those upgrades where there's a real bump, but I can still get by (if I have to) on Illustrator 8 and Photoshop 7.

*old skool arms*

I tried CS4 and went back to CS3.

I have a feeling CS3 is going to be the new 7 for me. I didn't switch from Photoshop 7 until CS3 came out.

In the same boat as Benecol- I'm still using CS2. Mainly because Windows 7 on my desktop won't recognize the external harddrive it's in, but ain't nothing like the basics!! But I just need to know... is there finally a keyboard command shortcut to flatten on Photoshop?

I am still using CS2. Any older and I can't upgrade. I was supposed to get one last year and got too busy. But five is like a new invention.

I am going to start diving into Wordpress, too. I started building my company's website last summer, (not online yet) using a Content Management System (CMS) that was written in a programming language called Ruby. I know fuck about any of that, but a CMS acts a bit like an OS in that it helps you in how you store bits in directories. Well some people are using Wordpress as a CMS because it does the same kind of things.
