current conundrum, reverb pedals

again, I am an enemy of compression and all of the new fangled digital reverbs out there seem to eat up signal, I am trying to create a perfect second rig, yes I have 2 going now, the 2nd is all hooked up aside from the reverb unit. I was going to look at the chicklet but i heard it has a "click" issue when stomped upon. I also hear the lanilei eats up signal. So what are the good options aside from vanamps solemates?
I do not want to cough up $300 bones for a reverb unit.

always lusted after a dano spring king, even if they're a homophobe company, just seems a cool spring reverb box for vintage sounding stuff


i wish i could have the reverb tank from my fender on a pedalboard it sound so splashy and retro; haha

i have been looking at those, chikklets, spring chick'nz, lee jackson mr. springy, some other knicknacks
I am not sure whic would best suite my stuff, it's sad. I use a holy stain now, I can hear it's compression sometimes and it sucks but if i keep the reverb low enough I don't hear it and it's cool.

Dude, you must have the pickiest ears on the forum. ;)

I think most of us would be happy with a behringer reverb. lol

That said, the best reverb I think I ever heard was the built in unit in my Sunn Beta Lead. I loved it, it was such a weird reverb sound. I think in the price range your looking at, that dano probably isn't a bad idea. But buying from them is supporting an anti-homosexual crusade... if only they didn't make such cool shit.

It looks like that dano or the chikklet would be the best, I just need to pay attention to the chiklet demos on youtube.
I do have really picky ears when it comes to OD and reverb. I am overly anal about it, because I ruined a record before IMO with terrible reverb, although other people like that record a lot, i paid $1400 to do that recording and the reverb/compression is just so blatant it kills me.

since then I have gone sersiously stripped down with all of my effects and went as core to the signal as possible. Many people don't notice compression the wa I do though.

I don't care for dano products due to having broken a few of their pedals and all of the dano guitars I have had sucked.

Especially no musicians. I've actually had to point out background hum to people before. It'll be annoying the crap out of me, but 98% of people don't even notice. Even when you tell them it's there, they don't even care.

it's true, I tell my other bandmates about this stuff all of the time, it's like I am not there and they forget I said anything.

I hear it especially bad on BASS

I've been doing a little research on Reverb pedals recently and knowing that I don't want a million sounds or anything fancy think I would/will go for the Boss FRV-1 when I get my hands on James' Bassman.
I hear lots of good things about the Hardwire RV-7, Haze seems to like it an awful lot.

personally I use pedals as little as possible when I record and add things like delay or reverb from the console. I do this specifically to avoid messing up something that can not be fixed. It all depends on where you record though. If they have really good equipment and amp selection you can get by with this and use amps that have the sound/efects that do what you want. then there is no signal path to get noisy. But not all recording places have all the good stuff so this is not always an option.

As far as a reverb pedal goes the boss or the hardwire are hard to beat for the price. 2-300 for a boutique reverb pedal seems way overkill. But to each their own. Again, I record entirely different than I play live so the signal stuff is not an issue to me at all which makes a difference.

Hehe yes - have lusted after it since Doogfest II! Should be picking it up next month - am excite!
Think, and this is only a *think* at the moment, but I might get rid of my Marshall and am in process of getting rid of the Blackstar which would leave me with just the Bassman and Princeton Reverb :)

It sounds like you just need to go out and demo a bunch of reverb pedals. Everyone has their own idea of what a good reverb pedal is -- it's the EHX Holy Grail Plus for me -- and if you're truly as picky as you say, trusting someone else's ears isn't going to work well.

my favorite reverb is inside my fender amp. it just sounds "right"

i don't have a deluxe, nor would i ever buy one but it might be worth it for you to try this out.

Oh yeah, there's also the Guyatone FR-3000V Tube Drive Reverb Unit if you really wanted a tube-driven reverb and didn't want to spring for the Fender. I suspect that's even more out of your price range, however.

Oh I know that it is sprng, but before I spent 300 on a reverb pedal, I would perosnally just sell my amp to a version that has decent reverb. Of course I am usually a fender amp man so there are always supers, twins, showmans, etc with reverb to pick up and the reverb on them sounds better than any reverb pedal that I have ever played. For 300 I would be pretty close to what I could pick up a whole amp for out here in SO Cal (350-500 for silverfaces) Again, to each their own.

the hardwire pedal is so compression laden I would never touch it again after i tried one out, but that's me. EH reverbs sound good on bassman heads, just don't go for a regular holy grail as there is an inherent volume drop you will definitely notice when it's engaged.

The Marshall Reflector has hardwire bypass, but i've never noticed it suck tone on my pedalboard. I really like mine, and for 50 quid, it's hard to beat.
