Pedalboards!

Since i'm starting to gather quite a collection of pedals, i'm in need of a bigger board than I have already. For a few months, i've been using the Ikea Gorm board and an old suitcase my mum kindly donated for casual gigging and weekly band practise. It's severed me well bar the few times my RAT fell off (curse the rubber feet). I thought about going down the DIY route again but i've decided my skills are no where near good enough. This leads me too, ready made pedalboards and cases! The contenders are;
(BTW, i'm using a 1spot and a surge protector, in case of other power supplies)
Gator Pedal Tote (the big one) = £50ish
Link 1
Spider Pedalboards (i've never heard of them) = £80ish
Link 2
Diago Showman = £120ish
Link 3
Other suggestions are very welcome. Any help is much appreciated guys!

I highly recommend the Spider pedalboards, great value for money although you will need to fit your own feet to the actual board if you want to use it while in the case - but that's a relatively easy job.
Before I had the Spider board I had one made by a company called NSP Flightcases, it was well strong and well made but being a full flightcase spec board it weighed a ton.

have a look at the black kross sk-110, that's what i use. it has a double tier and a space for a power bar at the side. mine was about £50, although that was 3 years ago.

pedal-train boards!!!! Highly recommended one of the best purchases I have ever made.
I used to have a gator pedal board, cobascis has my old one now maybe he will chime in with it. I liked it when I had it but I needed to get a bigger board so i sold it. But a nice board none the less. But I love how the pedal train is suited to running cables underneath. I run 2 1 spots under my board. it works absolutely perfect.

I saw what you mean about the Spider board in the pics and I wasn't quite sure about it. Can you actually lift the board out of the case? If I bought one, I was just gonna take the lid off and leave the board as it is. Does it mean the pedals rattle about when moving it?

When I was at the Dallas Guitar Festival on Friday, I went by the Pedaltrain booth. They are coming out with a new board called the Pedaltrain Nano. It's smaller than the Pedal train mini and doesn't have vertical kick plate like the Mini does. Very Cool. I would have bought one if they were for sale. They are also coming out with these risers in various widths that raise up a pedal(s) so you can reach them easier on the back row. They should be coming out soon. They had the PT nano wired up with 4 small size pedals like the Malekko pedals. Keep an eye out for them. Pedaltrain rep also told me they are working on their own custom power supply. It should be interesting to say the least.
I also have a Pedaltrain pro with the hard case and its awesome. I love having a mounted Power supply underneath. Mine is currently full, but I plan to move my Polychorus to make more room.

I've got a diago showman, its a pretty good pedal board, I've used it for the past 4-5 years and its still pretty sturdy. I have however had an issue with the velcro coming loose off the actual board, but a bit of superglue has solved that issue.
It's a bit of a pain being unable to put a power supply under neath it, but with a powerstrip mounted along one side there's not much of an problem.

I've got a Diago Showman that I have used and gigged extensively for about 5 years. It's great, really sturdy and well constructed. Having said that, recently I downsized to a Pedaltrain Mini and that's just perfect. If I were to need get a new larger board now, I would get a Pedaltrain Jr as it's easier to make it neat and have cable running underneath.

The Spider pedalboard I bought was basically a flightcase with a seperate piece of lose plywood, slightly smaller than the size of the case, for you to attache your pedals to. It can be lifted out of the case. The flightcase is quite deep so if you want to use it in the case I recommend you attaching some feet to it. I use mine in the case and I attached feet to mine which raised it above the floor of the case, I also drilled holes for the cables and have them running under the board.

i'd love to see what this looks like. sounds ideal for what i need. hope it's a little bit cheaper then the mini.
currently, i've been using my kinsman board. i paid £25 quid for it. it's not too bad, but i had to mod it. the inside has a poorly stuck down fabric bottom for you pedals. this will peel off as soon as you move a pedal. i cut a thick board of MDF and mounted inside then covered with carpet. works a treat now and makes it more secure. plus glued the back latches to make sure they don't pop off.
probably sell it when i get a pedaltrain.

Another thing regarding the Spider pedalboards is that the board is not covered in fabric. I screw my pedals down using fixings you can buy from Johnny Shreadfreak so that isn't a problem for me. However I don't know how well velcro will stick to the board if that is all you intend to use to fix pedals to it. My previous NSP Flightcases pedal board had a surface on the board that the adhesive side of velcro didn't like sticking to so heavy pedals tended to come off after a while of storing the pedalboard on its side.
