So my computer with Protools bit the dust and I was hoping you guys could point me to a thread or device/program to get started again on a new computer.

I've used the Protools on the computer with an M-Box for so many years. It would be nice to have something new I suppose that won't set me back. I mainly need an editing program, maybe a computer drum machine and a NICE intuitive input device. I found the MBOX input device flimsy and pissed me off with shit on both sides to worry about.

Anyway... any starting point to go looking would be nice.

Thanks!

I've recently started using Cubase which is a pretty sweet program, if not a little confusing at times.

How about the lexicon omega or something similar? Depends how many inputs you need/budget.

Oh and Abbey Roads Drums by I think Native Instruments sounds amazing, some guy was showing me it yesterday.

That Unit looks really nice! Similar, it seems to many I've looked at including the Tascam US-122mkii. They all come with Cubase which is cool. My concern with all of them is that I am using Windows 7 and I'm afraid to get caught up in old driver issues or a company that isn't updating their software. Anyone have experience with Windows 7 and one of these USB AIs?

That drum program looks impressive and probably crazy spendy. ($120 I just saw) I would like something like that though. Good sounding samples on a drum machine would be amazing. Does that run as a seperate instrument you would then import into Cubase like Reason or something? Like it plugs in?

I saw it being used as a plug in, its the best sounding computer trigger drums I've ever heard though.

Sorry I can't help you anymore I'm a bit of a noob about recording, I just now enough crap to get by
