Hi,
I'm having trouble finding a cab for my new amp. It needs a 4-ohm cab. I have a marshall cab lying around, 4x12, but its 8 ohms, is there any way of rewiring it to 4?

first result seems promising.
You can run a cabinet rated at higher ohms than the amp puts out but the amp won't function at full force, yet it won't damage it either. Using a cabinet with a lower ohm rating than the amp's load WILL damage the amp however

Thanks
I have the crappy valvestate 4x12 cab at the minute, but I have no idea what the ohm rating of each speaker is. I opened it up and cannot find it online

Once I know this I'll be able to find a way of rewiring it.
If not, then I'll just have to make my own

This 8100 Valvestate runs at 4 ohms, so assuming its cabinet matches i'd say its 4 ohms as well, this might not be true for yours however.

I think the VT cabs were 8ohms? My friend used to have one but he sold it, he replaced it with a Zilla custom cab which sounds amazing. So good that if I had any money whatsoever I'd get one to run with my AC30.
If all else fail pop Zilla cabs an email I'm sure they'd be able to make you something.

My Marshall AVT 412 cab is 8ohm. I'd be very surprised if the Valvestate one is any different.

Out of curiosity can I ask what made you choose the Deville over the Deluxe? Just wondering since they are so similar. I personally liked the 1 x 12" Deluxe best for tone.
