+1. I just bought this from guitarfetish for my tele project. It goes both ways and has the compensated brass saddles. What else could you want.

I think most aftermarket tele bridges should come with both options. The traditionalists would not like it of course. 'it sucks tone by removing mass' or whichever other argument is used.
If you had through-body stringing it'd be nice to be able to have top loading as an option too.

Arr - GFS, as mentioned above. The Benecolcaster had a bridge which could do either, and I loved it.

Wilkinson compensated tele bridge I've got on my thinline does both. It's a nice bridge.

Why?

why not? i mean, it's a project, FFS. if a top loader is so hard to find that a thread had to be made about it, he could've gotten a string through and drilled 6 holes, and pressed in 6 ferrules in the time it took to browse for a top loader unsuccessfully, and then make a thread about it.

Because the guy has already decided he wants top loading? String through would be a lot more hassle.

meh, cool enough. i don't give a shit. it was a suggestion. i suggest string through for everything because i think it looks cooler, and with tele's especially. the guy could put a jag trem on it for all i care.
this is a discussion forum, etc.

Discussion forum does not mean irrelevant and pointless suggestion forum.

ah. yeah, that was probably the most irrelevant thing said. definitely worth making a stink over.

because I don't want to drill holes through the body, im just looking for a cheap, fast solution.

I'd love to get one of those dual load bridges and do some proper sustain and "tone" comparisons between the two options in a scientific environment.
hardtail

I have strung the Bananacaster both ways, even at one point having the treble strings top-loaded and bass strings through the body, can never find differences before lunchtime and never get back to it afterwards. There isn't a tension/feel/sustain difference to me either.
