I'm a guy who loves me some firebird/thunderbird style guitars. Then I heard about these and was like, DUDE.

Here's a bit on the guitar and the bass.

Here's the bass page and here's the guitar page (from the official site).

Yeah, they're pricey, but ESP makes a damn fine instrument.

Those look very cool, but that statement is seriously debatable.

Do you think? They make Edwards (one of their cheaper model lines, in fact) and they're amazing. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about ESPs.

Aye, ESP's are pretty solid.

For the money? Hell no. I've owned probably four or five different ESPs and all of which left a little bit to be desired.

Edwards without a doubt are a better value and built to almost the same quality and specification.

I've heard from other people that they're nothing inspiring and in truth all the stuff I've played by them, although the build quality was great they weren't all that interesting.

Are you sure you guys aren't talking about LTD? I briefly owned an LTD mh-400 and it was awful....although it did look beautiful.

ESP's are supposed to be pretty good, but their image (here) is that they are just for them heavy-meat-als, so for the money I'd go for a Tokai Thunderbird-copy.

For that kind of money I'd have the Gibson .

My bandmate uses ESPs. they're not really flashy or especially inspired, but they're built rock solid and they've got a kick ass metal tone. He's got an Alexi Laiho sig model which is pure gain and a Horizon FR-II which actually has a semi-decent clean tone for an EMG guitar.

We know they're not versatile, but they totally bring the RAWK.

The ESP page hamilton signature is the only one of theirs I've ever played. And it's a damned fine guitar. I wouldn't say a bargain for the money, but certainly worth the money.
