Big Muff Mods

I have a NY Big Muff that took a shit and died this weekend. In my experience this is just what happens with these things. I was only using it with my practice amp, not as my main fuzz sound, so I'm not terribly upset that it doesn't work and I'm not gonna drop much or any $ for a new/different pedal. I pulled the knobs off to spray paint the thing and the tone knob decided that it did not want to be separated from the shaft. It didn't seem like a huge deal, but I wasn't able to get it back into the pot correctly and after all of this the pedal makes next to no sounds. Just a very week signal. If it is in fact the jacked up tone pot that is the root of all this shit, could I not just disconnect it all together? I've heard of muffs being modded so that the tone stack is bypassed or removed, is this what I need to do? tell me, I need guidance.

Let me rephrase this. How does one bypass the tone pot on a NYC Big Muff? Like, completely remove it from the circuit so that I would only have controls for volume and sustain. The tone would be left run wild on the plains of central Kansas much like a hobo or sasquatch.

nobody? Not even a "stfu asshead". If nobody tells me how to fix my shit so that I can in turn take that advice and fuck my shit up then I am left with no choice but to answer my own posts. So...

1. Pour beer in it, then pee on the beer.
2. Burn it, presumably with fire and then torch that Youslaf dude. Is it because he's muslim? That's mean.
3. Disconnect the red lead from the c3po and sawdr it to the r2d2 terminal and that should do the trick, unless it's a '99 then you'll need to disconnect the obi wan capacitor.
4. sloan
5. Stop posting, postwhore.
6. Really? postwhore? It took me like 6 months to get to 50 posts so I think it's pretty safe to assume that I'm not just here for teh brodeals.
7. Sorry, it's just that there have been alot of noobs lately who seem to want to abuse our generosity, in particular that NJJoancollinsfan cunt. anyways, go on.
et cetera and so on and so forth

...that's how I imagined this might go.

Hey dude, I'm sorry nobody had any answers for yoooou. I reckon it'd be a lot easier to just replace the pot, totally bypassing the tone stack is gonna be a lot harder than just removing the pot from the PCB.

I'm bored, no worries.

I'm sure it would be easier to just replace the pot. I just have no clue really when it comes to modding something so I thought that a busted ass pedal whose sound I was never totally in love with might make a fine candidate for me to fuck with. Maybe like a tone wicker that's always on or something. I dunno. Thanks for the reply though.

Obviously.

Why start threads if you know the answer already?

Here's the schematic:

BMP Schematic

You need to lift the legs of the 39k and the .004uf where they connect together right before the tone stack. Lift the leg of the 0.1uf cap that's connected to lug 2 (middle lug) of the Tone pot. Put a jumper from the solder pad of the 39k where you lifted the leg and the other end of the jumper to the leg you lifted of the 0.1uf.

Actually, you probably don't have to lift the leg of the .004uf but I would just to be sure.

It would be easier just to replace the pot though.

In the original Little Big Muff...they just banged a resistor across the pads for Tone and Sustain, and threw in a switch to bypass the tone stack.
But yes I'd just replace the pot. Less hassle
