Picked this up tonight for 300 bones. Squier Tele Custom II, VVG90 pickups from Vintage Vibe Guitars, Bigsby with Jazzmaster bridge, Planet Waves auto-trim tuners. Don't think the guy knew that it was worth its price in parts alone

It plays and sounds great. By far the best sounding Tele I've played; though I guess it can't compare since it has P90s in it. I will probably end up swapping the neck though...it's too thick for my taste. So if anyone is interested in buying a Tele neck, let me know. It's actually quite well made.

Other stuff...first thing I do (aside from play the wood out of it) will be to upgrade the electronics. I can't stand seeing a nice set of pickups hooked up to cheap electronics. And, it pretty much has to have tele custom knobs. Disappointed that some previous owner put those strat knobs on. Also, I like the blackout look, but I'm thinking that a gold anodized pickguard would be sexy. Maybe with a rosewood fretboard, something like this. Thoughts?

That tele looks pretty cool. Are those p90 covers real metal covers or are they plastic made to look like metal.

I have a modded TCII as well, Ill never let it go. I really llke the stock neck pickup, dont have much use for a bridge pickup, except on muddy stages which I dont actually play very often. I pulled the tone pot from the neck PU. I was considering tremifying it, but then we started the dwarfcraft guitar

But that guitar would look way better with the big headstock.

Yeah, the neck is nice, I'm actually getting used to the thickness, though typically I really don't like fat necks. Agreed on the big headstock, if I do get a new neck it'll have one I think strat headstocks in general look great on tele bodies, big or not. I have no clue what neck I'd get though, I'd probably end up shelling out the dough for a USACG neck or something...

This is my first time owning a guitar with a Bigsby...never realized how much of a pain in the ass it is to change strings, took me an hour! Think I've got the hang of it now though. Also this guitar is heavy as balls, so I guess it's true what they say about agathis in that regard. Is yours that way too, aen?

Oh, and the covers are metal, surprisingly! I might switch back to black if I go with a different color pickguard though.

All Tele’s should have maple necks... in my opinion.

Did you use a capo to restring the bigsby?


All you do is loop the string around the holder on the bigsby, stretch as tight as you can by pulling on it and just slip a capo anywhere on the neck. It will allow enough tension to keep the string on the bigsby as you restring it. Super handy trick.

Hmm didn't think about using a capo! However it does have locking tuners which work just as well. Biggest pain was getting the strings to stay on the posts. I ended up pre-bending them by wrapping the string around a pen. Then I still had to hold the ball on the post with a screwdriver.

Have any of you with a bigsby done a mod like this?

Looks intriguing. I don't want to do dive bombs or anything, but I would like a bit more range. I'm also considering sawing / grinding off the trem arm stopper so that it'll rotate 360 like a Fender trem...
