Yeah, that strat has to from before 1971(big headstock but no bullet truss rod).I think those photos are from around 1968 or 1969.That is the first strat I ever saw with a black pickguard. Didn't think Fender started putting black guards on strats until 1975 or so.
I read this photo is from 1968

my guess, is...
he could've just painted the guard black? b/c it looks to me that there's a white spot on the guard from pick removing said paint?
and the logo looks to ME that there's color in it. so it should be from 1966/1967
