This is my first official post here. I've been a lurker for quite awhile though...actually had an issue getting my password to work, but an admin got me fixed up today. (thanks!) Anyhow... I'm a fellow shortscale junkie, and have been messing around with this for fun over the past week or so... I know nothing about website design, but figured it would be neat to put some pics of my Fender collection all in one place. I'm far from done with it, but it's gettin' there. Takes a bit of time to do, but it's sort of addicting once you get the hang of it. I'm also quickly realizing I have way too many guitars. Jaguars and other shortscales are on the first 2 pages... be warned though, after that it's pretty much Strat City.

Anyhow, I thought maybe some of ya'll would like to check it out and let me know what you think, good bad or otherwise. -JB

I also like the section of old collectable stuff. The Fender matches etc. very cool.

Great page and great guitars. Very nice pics too.

The one thing I would say is don't use italic as your standard font, it's a bit annoying to read that much of. Other than that superb.

That Burst Jag could do with a bit of relicing.

Beautiful Jaguars, also I found the knick-knacks on the collectibles page pretty cool. You take some beautiful pictures of the gear too.

Don't take this the wrong way, but do you make music with all of these? I always feel weird looking at collections like this...it's like a guitar museum. Everything's pristine, with as much of the original tags/documents/etc as possible...hardly a scratch on anything...none of it seems like it's getting any use, and it kind of makes me sad if that's the case. I know people collect things for various reasons and I can definitely see how something as aesthetically pleasing as fender guitars can spark a "gotta have one of everything" syndrome, I just can't see holding onto more than two of the same guitar unless there are drastic differences or reasons for having them. I know at the end of the day it's none of my business, so whatever the case, carry on.

No offense taken at all! And to answer your question, yes, I play ALMOST all of them. In fact, I've been known to spend entire weekends messing around with nearly every one back to back. I'm not currently in a steady band, but I will toss any one of 'em in the backseat of my car and head out with it at a moment's notice.

Alot of the tags, etc. you see in the pics were removed from the case pocket and added to the headstock for the photos. I DO have a couple of newer strats that pretty much stay in their cases, but even those come out once in awhile. Do I need all them? Hell no, I know guys who are alot better players and play out alot more often than I do who get by with a single guitar... so admittedly I am a bit of a collector, yes...but EVERY guitar I own has been completely set-up, maintained, and they all are played.

If you lived nearby I'd invite you to come play any one of them you like, that's what they're for. While I DO love the aesthetics of them, the custom colors, the various shapes, etc. I still use them...some more carefully and sparingly than others, but then again some are way more valuable than others too. And as for having more than one of the same type of guitar... You could pick up any one of the Jaguars and quickly discover that each one plays, sounds and feels totally different than the next, same goes for the Strats, Tele's, etc. I think anyone who owns a handful of guitars could attest to this, every one is different. In fact, I just picked up the white Duo-Sonic last week and am totally amazed at how different it is than either of my Musicmasters that "should" feel very much the same. (It's an awesome piece by the way, I just sat it down for the first time all night to type this!)

The setup on most of my guitars is similar simply because they're adjusted to my own preference... but even that varies to some extent from guitar to guitar. Also, If you check out my "Gone but not Forgotten" section you'll also see I have sold off alot of other guitars that were too similar to something else I had, or simply to fund the next GAS attack. It's a hobby, I'm not a pro-musician I just enjoy playing, collecting, and owning these cool old guitars. Heck, my collection is meager compared to many folks... but I can say the stuff i have makes me happy... which is the most important thing anyhow IMO.

If I had the money I'd probably be a few guitars behind you but at a mere 13 guitars I totally agree every one has it's place or function. Vintage models that are the same are never the same either, I'm sure most of us will agree there.

Now you gotta show us the amps you play these through...

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone! I don't know about "holy grail" guitars, it seems each one I desire becomes my holy Grail until I get it. I try to forget about the ones I don't get so they don't depress me! As for amps, I'm not nearly as obsessed with those, I have an original '68 Twin Reverb, a Deluxe Reverb reissue, a '59 Bassman LTD, a Blues Deluxe, and a few small Fender Champ practice amps.

I'm the same way Really, I'm a pretty shitty guitar player and don't deserve the gear that I've acquired based on merit, that's for sure... but I love good quality and good sounding gear. My collection is much smaller than yours, and it definitely all gets played... and it makes me happy to have it.

You've got some killer instruments in that collection of yours. As has been mentioned, you've snapped some rather nice shots of them too. The site format is simple, but it works. I may have to do something similar for my couple instruments

Fantastic site. There's enough info on each guitar to give us an idea of their background. Yet there's not an overly excessive amount that if anyone had a quick glance at would not bother reading cause there's too much (if that makes sense?). Perfect

Thanks... That was the idea with the brief descriptions... To tell each guitar's story without getting bogged down with technical details most folks don't care to read about someone elses guitars. Some have a bit more "story" to them than others, but I tried to keep all of the writeups as short as possible while still telling the story. Your "top 4" guitar choices are good ones, I think I just may have chosen the same ones myself!

ah.. i seem to remember the thread on offset about that coral jag... you've not been shy about buying more of them i see!
