Just for those interested in hearing the progress of all things new for Casa Bonita in 2010..
Nice realistic but programmed drums courtesy of Mike and his bandmate's lovely software.

That thing sounds so fat, hope the summer proves to be a rocking good time with CB with the new material.
And yeah, the snare especially sounds massive. Good on teh Miek.

Was that a thinly-veiled, circumstance-based snide comment?

Absolutely delicious, man. I can't believe those are programmed drums.

They're
Drum Kits From Hell from Toontrack samples and stuff, you can also set things like mic bleed etc so get a really good result, as you can hear.
Much of it is obviously down to Doog's programming and tweaking of the sounds.

Yeah, it's eerie how lifelike they sound. Great tune, too.

Holy crap, this Doog song has been driving me mental. I tell ya- drums, bass, 2 guitars, 3 synths and lots of vocals is no fun to mix at all.

I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the mix (and the song, even though it's already been previewed in one of the Recording An Album vidblogs)- it's not a finished mix by any means, but does it sound too messy? I think I might need to ease the guitars down a bit to fit the synths in.

I think it sounds great actually, I can hear everything clearly. Listening on headphones though. Maybe the bass could be turned up a bit? Or like you said, turn the guitars down a bit.
Loving the new CB material, especially the 7/8 parts. It's so low and so fat, yet so clear. Is that B standard tuning?

Thanks a lot man, I'll go about tweaking them sliders later.
Casa Bonita is generally standard tuning, just dropping the low E to A, A# or B, with a bit of octave pedal action to fatten things up. The Micro POG I just got (debuting on this demo) sounds a load better for this setup than other octavers since it tracks even super low notes and handles chords perfectly. I'm also using a G bass string as my detuned string to cope with the low tunings, I'm guessing it's a .60 or something.

I've had "That New Song" stuck in my head for days. Except the lyrics in my head are all wrong and don't fit.
