We all know them, we all love them, but where do they come from!?

All of the bronco guitars i've seen are numbered:

and all of the bronco amps i've seen have black skirted knobs.

so wouldn't these be "keyboard" knorbs, or is there a Fender BRONCO keyboard...
I've just bought two dozen of these things and taylor's inquiries made me wonder

and the power of GraySkull!

I love those numbered knobs as well. I think I am becoming a Knob snob. Wow.

i thought about getting the numbered ones for my amp but eh, i usually just adjust things by ear, not by "bass at 5 trebble at 4" etc. You'd be surprised with the settings you come up with when you do things by ear.
you would think the ones exclusive to the guitar would be harder to find. not that i've looked much that is.

My '77 Twin Reverb has them too. Someone re-tolexed (poorly) mine in white before I bought it. I've also seen these knobs on a lot of the 70's Fender PA's too.

iirc the new fender blenders have different style than vintage, they don't have that side adjuster to secure it to the pot shaft.

The old Fender Zodiac (or whatever they were called) solid state amps of the late 60's had around twelve of them on the front. You could get the amps for around $150-$200. Somebody on the board did this a few years ago. One amp supplied every one's needs for a while anyway. And if the amp worked, you could put on other Fender knobs and sell the amp.

Ok, ten knobs.

You mean this. I can't find any closeup pictures of it anywhere.

Check out this offset guitar link. 1968 Fender Catalog. Very Cool. I was trying to find all the amps with Bronco style knobs.

afaik, bronco knobs have the numbers on them as do fender blenders, so for a direct replacement, those two products are interchangeable. the ones with pointers on them are what you'll find on just about everything else that sports that style of knob. sloan scored a SHITLOAD of bronco-style knobs a couple years ago, but they were the kind w/o numbers on them. he was selling them cheap to shortscale members. . . i think i even still have some in addition to the two vintage, real bronco knobs i have from an ill-fated project of 3 or 4 years ago.

Yeah, last time I was at HOG it was still there. $150 for like 20 knobs, which you could then sell for $30 a pair..... not sure why I haven't picked that up.
