I just bought this new at Guitar Center because...Well..Why not. (50's CV sunburst strat w/maple neck)

Not my favorite pic of the VC series, but a fine guitar still (...I will try to get some real shots of mine.)

Anyways, long story short I went in there because I needed a cheap guitar as a backup for a show this weekend. My plan was to buy a $99 bullet strat because I had a $50 e certificate that was about to expire anyway, then clean it up, string it, and use it as a backup.

Well, they had the CV strat down to 279, then I got 15% off for memorial day weekend sale, and used the ecert. cost me about 200 out the door with a gig bag and 2 packs of picks.

Plays pretty nice but needs a setup. Pickups sound great to my ear. I almost walked out with a Vox actv4 because that is what I was playing ti through and it sounded great. They had those knocked down to $149.00

Anyways, pretty decent player. On par with the mexican 60s reissue I had a couple years ago or the NAKED guitars strat copy I had. I would have to 1 on 1 it against an American, but of course that is 4-5x the price.

Again, I will post pics soon.

I bought a Classic Vibe bound telecaster yesterday. I am really impressed with the value for money, it plays and sounds every bit as good as a MIM tele to me. Neck is really slim.

Only place it lacks, and not much, is the pick ups, all that is is preference though.

My number 1 is a Gibson Firebird V. My number 2 is a 90s Gretsch duo jet. Both are expensive guitars but the CV Tele is gradually kicking the Gretsch out of it's number 2 spot. Some new pickups and a capacitor or two and it'll be my new number 2.

I've always thought the pickups were fine. Squier put alnico 5 pickups in these guitars. Hell, in recent years, fender's used alnico 5 pickups in their American standard guitars.
