I think I'd rather buy a CV Jazz Bass and put P Bass pickups in it.

I like it, but it'd have to be much MUCH better than the fender version to justify. Mostly since the fender jag bass is much cheaper these days.

I doubt there's anything wrong with agathis. Ibanez use it quite a lot on their cheaper stuff. I can understand no binding more at Squier prices than Fender considering a lot of low budget guitars with binding don't pull it off. Concentric knobs are FTW on something like this.

That's made to look like it's from the Squier site. So either they haven't updated the main page links or it's a shoop. It does seem in line with what Squier have been doing recently though.

It could be a photoshop but they discontinued the Jag bass even though it was one of their most successful basses outside the P basses and J basses. There used to a be rumor of sending production to America for the Jag basses but a Squier version would make A LOT more sense.

Although, it would look better with the active circuit and preamp like the Jag bass has. That way you could also add the chrome plate to the top horn, it would be a major improvement, imo.

the strange part about the jag bass being discontinued is that it is still on the fender.com site
and i keep seeing them in shops, when they were not there in the last few months.

Body looks wrong to me somehow, like its a Stagg model or something. Might just be the sp and missing plates :?

Agathis tends to be very heavy. I played the pink sparkle "Girlcaster" that Robroe has and its made of agathis. Noticeably heavy for a Tele.

My Affinity Strat is Agathis, easily my heaviest guitar. Well, besides the Jag, thats a LOT of wood ;)

Don't really know what to make of this.

It's interesting, but if it's real, it'll cost a fair whack.

Agathis tends to be light. I have a Dirnt bass(Squier) of agathis and it's light. My tele that was agathis was light too. Agathis is a tropical evergreen with tonal qualities of mahogony ( I don't think so) kinda like a hard pine. Basswood on the other hand is heavy.

yeah, this. mostly likely it's due to...
robroe wrote:the top horn on it looks like piss ass
this. the normal jag horn doesn't curve way out like that, like a shark fin or something, they're more stubby. the stagg et. al. have the same shark fin horn.

by endsjustifymeans
Could be a shoop of the agile argus.
