Please could somebody offer some advice (advantages/disadvantages) between these model Jag's - as I'm a bit stumped right now
Both the models I'm looking at are sunburst in colour (lol)! The B&B versions serial number (T065767) checks it out to be a 1996 model (I think). I don't know the serial number of the 62 RI yet.
I understand the B&B models have better necks but weak p/ups - but I've found relatively little on the 62 RI models. And I don't want to make any decision only knowing half the story.
From what i can gather you will be paying a lot more for cosmetics in the B&B, other than that they are the same.
Like George said.. take a look at the CP models

The real question you should be asking yourself is: Classic Player or AVRI

Really those CPs are probably the best option for a Jag on any kind of budget. The only reason i went AV for my current (last?) jag is because I kind of had extra money, a spare buzz-stop and it had a Mustang bridge included.
Just FYI - serial numbers on Japanese Fender's is pretty unpredictable. I've downed a Jag and a Jag bass and both (according to serials) were from 97 but they were actually only a year old. I'm not sure they produced the B&B Jag in 96 but I'm probably wrong.
I've now just been contacted by the seller as the winning bidder backed out of the purchase, and he's asked me if I'd like to trade my tele with him. My tele is a 72 custom model (humbucker at neck, normal tele p/up at bridge), Mexican made from mid 90's.
So... What do all you good people think of this as a trade?
Value wise, you're getting a decent deal. Not deal of the century, but the Jag is worth a little more than tele.
That being said, I like those teles a lot more than I liked my blocked Jag. I liked the tele pickups a lot more than the Jag pickups. I'm sure if you were to upgrade the Jap pickups it would be a different story but stock, I'd keep your tele, especially if you have the money for a Jag.
