Hi Guys,
Got Birthday money flying my way this weekend and of course that causes me to bloat with GAS. Right now I've got a Dunlop 535 Wah, Fatboost II, AM Sunface NKT 275, Big Muff Pi w/ TW, MXR CC, and EHX Holy Grail. My tastes are Classic Rock/Blues, Garage Rock/Blues(White Stripes/Black Keys), and Neil Young. I was thinking of something maybe in the vein of a Univibe or some octavey pedal (Micro Pog / Digitech Whammy) but wanted to see if anyone out there had some pedals they are loving and fit in the vein of what I'm playin. Suggest away!

Hrmm...that's very true. I've contemplated that pedal many a times. I'm sure I could grab up on a used one on TGP for round that price. Grr, now I'll be thinking about that one for a few days ... thanks Skip

The Micro POG is dead fun, but somewhat of a three-trick pony- a Whammy might be a more fun investment since it can do a whooooole bunch of sounds and doesn't cost a whole load more than the MPOG. Guess it depends how desperately you want it to track chords and/or have both an octave up and down simultaneously.

I think the way the Digitech tracks is kind of the great thing about it. It doesn't track precisely which leads to some cool sounds. Also, not a loss if I can't mix the up and down. I usually like to keep it uniform so one on or the other is fine with me. Sometimes I stray way from stuff like the Whammy because so many people use it anymore - Morello, White, Bellamy, Folowill.

I used to have a Whammy and the tracking is pretty good, it certainly doesn't make those crazy sounds that other octavers, such as the EHX Octave Multiplexor, do. It's also really fun to play with with all the settings but if you're only going to use octave up or down you're probably better off getting a Micro Pog as the Whammy is a heavy lump to carry around, is huge and is difficult to attach to a pedalboard.

I have an EHX Ring Thing. It's mainly a ring modulator. However, it can be used to create Uni-Vibe effects, and with an expression pedal it can also be used for convincing Whammy effects too. Add on a decent polyphonic octave function and it's a pretty useful pedal. Nine presets means you can store all of these settings and recall them easily. It's £150 over here, so I'm not sure how much that is in dollars anymore. But I'd give it a good look as it does most of the effects you mentioned, although it would require purchasing an expression pedal along with it.
