63 jaguar done

Post by TerminalVertigo »

Wow, finally got this one where i wanted it.

I had built it very well, and i was quite happy with it, but i am always tinkering, and can never seem to be quite finished a project, especially when it isn't 100%.

I ordered a vintage pickguard for this, because vintage tort is where its at, and while the brown WD tort was nice, it just wasn't doing it for me. 8)

here's how she looked at that point:

Big difference, it looks great.

So i was done.

or so i thought.

Diceman came along and posted how he just bought a jaguar off ebay with a damaged body, but all original from august 1963.

:wtf:

Wait a second, that's the month and year of my jaguar body :derp: meaning they were made the same month.

whaaaaaa! what are the chances a broken bodied sunburst jag would pop up and offer me everything i need to complete mine?

its fate. :jacked: :)

I then decided that all those parts needed to belong to me, regardless of what diceman said or thought ;)

After some haggling, The neck plate, screws, all original neck, and all the control plates from august 1963 were on their way to my house ;)

Diceman eventually bought my 64 neck and made a beauty sherwood jag with it.

Here's some pics of the new neck and old one, and how the project looked at that point.

So then i was done.

But something was still bugging me.

It was the tort, even though it was vintage, it just wasn't doing it for me, compared to some others i had saved pics of, etc.

then it happened.

Cruising ebay, I noticed a BEAUTIFUL 63jaguar guard for sale. price? $395US

Put a moderate offer in, and it was accepted.

here's the difference between the two vintage guards.

and this is where we stand now:

This project has went from nice vintage parts guitar, to a all original 63 jag from august, all numbers matching, with replaced tuners, mastery and pickup wizard custom wind jag pups.
