Electro Harmonix Micro Synthesizer - Rate LED Mod

I tried google to see if anyone had done anything like this before, but no dice - basically I want an easy way to visualize how quickly the rate of the filter sweep on the micro synthesizer is. My idea is to have an LED that fades in and out based on where the rate slider is set.

The 0 - 10 numbers on the enclosure's graphics are really arbitrary and, without really messing around, you have no idea how fast or slow the rate of the filter sweep is.

Anyone seen anything like this done before? Would it be worth the mod?

I guess you'd need to hack into the filter section of the pedal, and send the varying level of resistance (that's currently opening the filter) to something that's controlling the voltage going to the LED also. Couldn't tell you how to do it though, I'm afraid. It sounds like a tap tempo footswitch for the filter speed would be an ideal solution for you here, but again..

I'd say just get more familiar with the slider, maybe make a few tiny Tipp-Ex (aka Wite-Out in the US?) markings for each second increments? This requires sitting down with a stopwatch though..

I know nothing about modding and building but the EHX Stereo Electric Mistress LED changes based on the Flange / Chorus speed/intensity. If you can grab a schematic of that pedal you could possibly figure it out based on its setup.
