Sorry if there's already a thread on this here, but I wanted to ask everyone take on which of these two pedals they prefer.

Right now, I've got the NYC reissue muff on my board and I dig the bite that comes with the attack, but sometimes it's a little too angular for my liking.

The tone wicker muff would give me much more versatility, but I don't want to totally lose that muff "kick-in-the-arse" feel.

So... I guess I'm ultimately asking if I should keep or sell the NYC reissue once I get the tone wicker.

As boring an answer as it is, you'll truly never know if you like it until you've tried it with your own gear. I say just buy the Tone Wicker used, see how it compares, and sell off the loser. I'd imagine there's a fair bit of crossover in sounds available, so it won't be a complete departure.

Check out gearmandude's video comparing the NYC and the LBM with the Tone Wicker- while it won't sound identical to using your gear (and it's not a great demo), it should give you a good idea of the differences.

Yea, Steve was trying out my Tone Wicker and for lead tones he preferred the NYC, which, he got from me . I'm using an Earthquaker Devices Hoof right now. It hits a lot of the Tone Wicker sounds but with more clarity and ummph. I think the Musket is a pretty useful Muffish clone type pedal but the Hoof is a better Muff. Its weird when you walk around the office and ask people if they want to see your Big Muff.

The latest NYCRI (the 3003-C circuit board) is the same as the TW except it doesn't have the two switches the TW has, other than that, its the same.
The TW sounds a little different to the older NYCRI's like the 3003-A circuit boards as parts differ somewhat. There's a 3003-B NYCRI too but they weren't made for long (in 2007) and were almost immediately replaced by the 2008 3003-C....ie; the current NYCRI.

The current NYCRI is great,best RI ever produced IMO/IME.

how does it compare to the little big muff?

I personally really hated the NYC reissue I had. It was only just louder than the clean sound when the volume and sustain were maxed and was too smooth and flubby in the bass for my tastes.

I much prefer the Green, Ram's head and IC versions.

Love my Tone Wicker. Just find it a more usable pedal and considering the extra features for very little more money than the NYC model, you can't go wrong.

Gotta be down to your pickups of choice at the time, that very same Muff was plenty loud with my gear the times I've borrowed it off Spud.

I quite like Big Muffs with the tone rolled way back so you've actually got some low mid content, but it always lack enough top end clarity.
