Why can't I commit to Velcro?

Post by taylornutt »

I have had my new pedalboard for a while and for some reason I still have not velcroed my pedals down to the board. With the exception of my Polychorus and my Holy Stain, I am pretty set on where everything is located. Is anyone else hesitant to Velcro up their effects?

Isn't the point of velcro that you don't have to commit?

I took the velcro, and poked holes in i tthat lined up witht the case screws of the pedals. It holds better, and there is no sticky shit to deal with if you remove the velcro.

After I realised how often I change my pedal line-up I figured it's just not worth it. It's not as if they're flying about the room without Velcro, you just have to be a little more careful.

I've found that velcro (and the pedals) comes unstuck from my board after a while if i've been storing it upright so I prefer to screw pedals down with fixings that you can buy from Johnny Shreadfreak, however it does become a bit of a mission when you want to move things about.

Honestly I prefer just to mount the pedals to the board with some little brackets made out of disassembled bike chain links and screws. It's a pain to change around your board, but it's damn rugged.

That's pretty much what the fixings I buy from Johnny Shreadfreak are, but more expensive and less covered in oil.

I've thought about switching to getting some kind of metal just thin enough to cut and bend. A few things are hard to mount with the bike chain links- my PP2+ and my DOD-Fx17

i don't like Velcro on pedals: its kind of a turn-off when someone is selling a pedal w/ 'lots of velcro on the bottom.'
