I really wasn't looking to buy another Musicmaster, although they ARE my favorite student model.. but this one was just too neat to pass up. It's a 100% untouched 1966 Musicmaster II that was purchased new in '67 for a 10 year old girl who rarely played it. The story was that she already had an acoustic she preferred, and this guitar sat in it's case essentially unplayed and untouched for most of its 40+ year lifespan. I bought it from her son, and it's a total time-capsule piece! The chrome hardware looks as though it could have been plated yesterday, there is no fading of the paint, the pickguard and plastic tuner tips are as bright as new, and it's just a very cool piece in every way! 100% untouched, never a screw removed. Aside from a small spot by the neckplate, and on the edge where the nitro lacquer was actually so dried out it flaked off, the original finish is excellent. I firmy believe the strings I took off it were the originals, but they were very corroded so I treated her to a brand new set of .011's, plugger it in for the first time, and was amazed at how sweet this one plays! Seems to be perfectly set up with nice low action, very light and resonant, and didn't even have any scratchiness in the pots. It's a shame this one has been held captive in its case so long, as I can't seem to put it down! And the coolest thing is, with this one I now have examples of 65/66 Musicmaster in all 3 available colors. It's a sickness I tell ya. Take a look... :D
