DOD FX-17 Wah Problems

Basically, when i'm using the pedal on either setting (volume or wah), near the starting point of the sweep at about 20% there is an annoying spot where the pedal will cut straight to the top of the sweep (100%). Moving the pedal either up or down returns it back to the position it should be. It only does this briefly but when sweeping on either side it's bloody annoying. The problem is so annoying i've now relegated it from my board until it can be fixed.

I've no idea how to fix it, as my knowledge of electric is rubbish. Fixing it is also difficult I imagine because it's hardly a famous pedal and the construction of the pedal is (allegedly) very confusing. Someone on another forum suggesting that the thin mylar plastic layer has worn out. I've no idea of whether it's a power supply issue either (only power supply I have is a 1spot). Chances are I will have to send it off to some pedal repair place, which will likely cost me a fucking bundle but arguably it's worth it because I do love the pedal.

Basically, help? :?

It definitely sounds like a problem with the mylar (I had to look up the pedal to realise it's not a pot-based sweep) seeing as it affects both modes and in the same place on the sweep.

I'd personally carefully take it apart and check out the mylar sheets? It looks like it could be a very easy replacement.

Yeah, sounds like there is a hole in the sheet.

I had one a few years ago given to me by a friend called steve who got it from his nephew martin aka ace from skunk anansie.there's a trim pot in there that can get some great tones if adjusted right. Is the sweep the other way round to vox and Dunlop wahs too?

Same sweep, just the off switch is at the heel (back) of the sweep. The trimpots are key to changing the sound for the better. When I got mine, it was set alright but a few minor tweaks and it sounds amazing.

Take it I should look into buying some good quality Mylar and looking for someone to replace it.

I love mine, and the 0-5v out is a nice little hidden thing. It can be used as an expression pedal with a lot of pedals with that, and I can't think of any expression pedal smaller.
