Another speaker ohm question

Our bassist went and bought a cab without checking the ohms rating of his Amp, turns out the Amp is 8 ohms and the cab is 4 ohms (4 x 4 ohm speakers, series/parallel i assume).
I can't wire this for 8 ohms can i? Can only find diagrams for 16 ohms in series, which from what i can gather will be safer than leaving it at 4 ohms.

To get 4 ohm total, you'll need to to wire up 2 pairs of speakers in series, then wire those pairs to the input jack in parallel.

It's in 4 ohms now, he wants it 8 ohms to match the amp.

Hmmm I think you're screwed unless you want to wire up a 4 ohm dummy load (in series) into your speaker array, which you probably don't.

Fuck, I'm a skimidiot, sorry!
Yeah, it looks like 16 or nothing, without changing speakers or using a dummy load, like Lat said.

I've heard about these, interesting idea, not sure if it works great...
might be expensive too.

Well to have a 4 ohm quad, that either means that you've got four 16 ohm speakers in parallel, or two pairs of series 4 ohm speakers in parallel.
Either case, the best you can do is rewire it for 16.

I had a friend who used one of those. As far as I know it did the job. Not sure what he payed for it though.
