I've recently got a DL-4 from US with a 120 V power supply. Since I'm from Portugal, I need one of 240 V. I'd still like to use the power supply that came with it but I'm afraid that a voltage converter adds up some noise to the sound signal.. Could this be true? I was planning on buying one of these, 'cause it's cheap:

What do you recommend? Sticking with the US power supply or buy a "new" european one from line6?

You could do either. How much is an EU power supply?

If you get an adaptor make sure it has sufficient power (wattage) to supply the DL-4.

I've only noticed now the power supply has a 9V AC output, so I won't be to use a 1Spot to play with it now ( I hate not being able to play with new gear right away.

A new (non-Line6) power supply it's about 15€ (with 2000mA output, which is more than I need). And a voltage converter would be about 7€. So, it's cheap stuff.
I think I'll try the converter first. Not sure if the weak power factor of the converter (cos fi = 0.73) could have significant influence in the guitar sound. I guess I'm a bad "soon-to-be-electrical engineer", ahah.

To be honest in terms of bulkiness you might get annoyed by the power adaptor + convertor, maybe best to just get an EU 9VAC adaptor?

You could always just get one of these



It converts a normal 9v adapter to work with Line 6 DL4, MM4 etc...

Would work with the onespot

* Buy as many as you need, one for each pedal
* Just plugs on to your existing daisy chai

All it does is reverse polarity of a DC signal. The original poster was talking about 9VAC which is a different thing.

The DL-4 manual seems to suggest it needs 9VAC 1200mA. This Diago thing looks like it ain't going to help, I don't think that line about the Stompbox Modelers should be in there.

According to their site:

Line 6 Stompbox Modelers officially require 9V AC, but work reliably on a 9V DC, centre +ve, supply with sufficient current.
Use the Diago Powerstation with a Green Adaptor.

Seems odd that'd it would be able run with both, not that I full understand the difference, anyway.

Well either way I wouldn't rely on something cheap and nasty like a 1-spot to be able to supply "sufficient current" for running the DL-4 off in that way.

Note: The Stomp Box Modelers will also work under DC (Direct Current) at 12V, 500 mA minimum. The center pin is positive (yes, center pin is positive as opposed to the DC-1 power supply).

Found this on Line6 forums. They'd probably have a rectifier built in the pedal, or not.

In fact, 1spot compatibility chart shows that it can supply Line6 Modeling Pedals (I guess that fits the DL-4). I'll try it later with a 1Spot with the Line6 adapter it comes with. Shouldn't hurt, should it? CAN'T WAIT...
Later I'll probably buy a new power supply, like Mike said. Or I'll ask in electronic's shop if I can try the pedal with power supply and voltage converter, lol, and then decide.
