Post by Mustang Melx »

if I just cut the bottom off my Jagmaster pickguard will I be able to put a Jaguar chrome control plate on or is there something stopping it from working?

I've wondered this in the past too, but never really bothered finding out. Curious to find out the answer.

Also probably worth some kinda consideration as to whether it's a Vista, or a newer model. I believe the knobs placements are ever so slightly different? Could be wrong though, I've only got a Vista so can't compare.

I just took a look at my Jaguar side by side with my Jagmaster. Not possible without serious mods. Jagmaster's pickguard is not as fat as the Jaguar's control plate, not to mention bridge and screw hole placement. You would be better to have a custom guard made that lines up properly. You could lay the control plate on the pickguard, but it's not an easy swap out. If you have a Vista Jagmaster, I wouldn't butcher it up.

^ I'd never wanna change my Vista in this manner anyway. I prefer how it looks atm and there is of course the drop in value that would come from butchering it like this (not that I ever plan on selling it).

I was just kinda wondering whether this would be possible, but it's cool you've cleared it up.

i don't know how closely related this is, but i think it would work.

it would look stupid however. and your reputation would be tarnished in the eyes of the vista jagmaster club. :)

it's not a vista, it's the last model.. and on the recent ones the top control is lower down the 'horn' of the pickguard .. I think it would work myself... my guitar is butchered, I mean 'customised' anyway.. .. If I had one I could just hold it up and see, I might just buy one and have a look anyway. I'm not going to pay for a custom guard, I didn't bother when I hacked the pickup holes out to put covered pickups in.
