Have one of these Jaguar Specials? HAET those dragqueen humbuckers? PUT AVRI JAG PICKUPS IN AND DO AN RAWK

Get yousef a CIJ pickguard...........

1.
Fill the nasty bits with some mdf or something, about 3/8" thick or something.
Image
make sure you cut out bits for the wires to route through.

2.
Make sure you make the blocks BIG ENOUGH so that you can actually mount your pickups
otherwise you'll look like a dumbass [me]
make a little block to fit in there
Image

3.
Break the little block and start over. This time, soak the devil in liquid cement and let dry impatiently.

4.
Mount everything, curse at things not fitting properly, ROCK OUT!

Good thread Haze, keep them young 'uns thinking innit.
I did the same thing back in the day. Red tort guard and black body. I have a cream pearloid custom cut guard somewhere to take Strat size pups as well...

Haze is that a mint green pickguard? Mint green Pickguard on black body is becoming a favorite color combo for me.

Do the AVRI Jag pups mount into the body like Jazzmaster pups? Does that Jag have the 1 Meg pots?

Nice Job. Is there any Fender guitar that doesn't look better with a set of Bronco Knobs?

Hardmounts to the body, that's why I had to add the extra block on the neck pickup. The guitar comes stock with 1meg pots, which does wonders for humbuckers and the huge alder body. And no, every fender guitar looks better with bronco knobs

I love the Jaguar HH, but dislike the Dragster pickups that come stock. I would never pay a new price for one and covert it, but I would consider doing it if I got a good deal on one. I think that Jag looks more classic than a Black strat with white pickguard.

BTW, Haze, how many Jags do you have now? I counted 2.

This'n and my uncle's '64 that I've taken on. The old'n sounds FANTASTIC but i can't be arsed to jam with it in fear of my friends knocking it over or something. It's worth more to my uncle than anyone is willing to pay for it so it stays at home for recording. The neck is too damn thin anyways, i prefer the clubby fender shortscale necks like the one on this jag and my musicmaster.

Basically I wanted the sound of the old Jaguar in this. The Stoptail changes things dramatically - more beef, tons of sustain, yet still jangly clean in the neck+bridge combo. The rhythm circuit is much too dark, I think I'll do an mike and change the cap. The strangle isn't too apparent clean but when it hits the ECT its like a whole new sound at my hands.

All in all I'm pleased with the results. I have the sound I wanted in a friendly package.

That is a really good job you have done there - like it a lot. I generally don't like the Jag HH guitars, but that is lovely.

The right thing has been done. Lovely direction taken for the Jag, Haze!

Must sound really spanky with that tail piece and stuff, and I'd certainly love to hear you bang out some vintage Paul Weller/Graham Coxonisms for the heck of it.

Best looking HH I've ever seen.

Pretty much what these new Blacktops should have looked like.

Not quite, I had to dremul the right bridge post hole out a bit because the TOM is slightly slanted. The plates had to move out a fair bit as well and the neck pocket isn't perfect. All things expected when changing pickguards however.

Very cool looking. A regular Black/Mint Jag would look ordinary, but the matching headstock adds a bit of class!

I dug these out Haze. Had a HH about 3 years ago, it came with that custom cut cream pearloid guard but i decided to use a red tort off a CIJ..
