Wasn't sure where to put this, but just saw this book, released earlier in the year.
Of all the Fender guitars ever released I found it quite surprising that they would use the Jag-Stang as the cover!
Think it's great, but just surprising!

Is that the original red Jag-stang with a pickguard better fitting the lower horn? Or do I just remember it as being worse than it really is.

(I'll put this in the other guitars bit as it's a bit more general)

Cheers James, I think that's just a regular JS - maybe not as bad as you recall!

I thought that too. It doesn't look as badly fitting as it ought to, but it still doesn't fit. Weird.

The original red Jag-Stang didn't have the better-fitting pickguard, it appeared exactly as the production models (white pearloid and all). Only the sonic blue one that Kurt actually got had a properly shaped [solid white] guard.

I have 50 Years of Fender... so I can give this one a miss. The last decade has been pretty dire. One year has that red Jag-stang photo in full splayed across two pages, it's not the original red one cause it says "jag-stang" on the head.

edit- oh and it's a righty... :? I forget this most of all when remembering guitars.
