My newest purchase :) (A little pic heavy)

Post by GreenKnee »

Saw this on ebay for £300, so I snatched it up. Should be arriving tomorrow :)
I've always wanted a jagstang but never found one for the right price, I think £300 is a good deal :) especially with a case, 2 straps and a set of new strings.

What do you guys think of them? I only ever played one about 5 years ago that was a friends of mine, she had the sonic blue one which is tasty. I cant really remember what it sounded like, I remember the neck feeling really nice though.

They're variable.

Some people have great experiences with them, others not so much.

£300 is a good score, they usually have inflated price tags. Well done 8)
I like them but they seem to vary in quality, owned about 6 myself over the years and a couple of them were really nice. Great neck i'm sure most will agree.
If the bridge pup sounds muddy try upgrading the cap on the tone pot.

I thought for £300 if I don't like it I can just sell it on. Its more a homage to my Nirvana loving days, when I was about 15.
I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on it :)

I love mine, though a bit muddy until I upgraded cap and pots to 500k.

I can't view the pictures in detail becasue for some reason the work computers don't want to allow photobucket but does it have contours or are the Jagstangs a slab type body?

That, though most people seem to have good things to say about their necks. I personally love them.

So if I wanted to change the cap, what farad capacitor would I replace it with?

It looks great. Fiesta Red is one of the coolest colors Fender makes. The cheapest price I have ever seen on a Jagstang was about $350 in the US, so sounds like you got a pretty good deal there. I hope to own or build my own Jag-stang at some point. Nice score.

Hi,

So it came yesterday :) very nice indeed.
Could tell it hadn't been played in a while, really rusty strings. Also, had to get a little contact cleaner for the volume and tone, a little noisy. Plays nicely now, apart from the nut for the G string is too deep, constantly frets at the 1st. I tried making the action higher, but to no avail.
At the moment I have a piece of guitar string holding it up, which works fine, but is there a product I can use to fill it?

you could use some of the plasticmelt product to get a temp repair on it. or you could just put a bit of paper in there (thats what I usually do if I cant get to the shop to get a nut)

i'd suggest a new nut being that all the 'repairs' you could do really mess with the sound of that string.

I used paper to start with, it deafened the string a bit though. The little bit of guitar string works fine, and you can't see it. I just don't want it to drop out when I use it live :p
Are nuts easy to replace? And where would I go about getting one?

Very sexy collection! I think SUnburst Jag's w/Black are amazing looking!

Very sexy deal on the Jagstang too. You'll easily make a profit on it; if you choose to.

Thanks :) I saw a jag with a black pickguard and thought, "that's the one for me!" so I swapped my tort. It's a very tight fit though, took some engineering ;)

So far I think I'm keeping the jagstang, feels so nice to play. First chance on Sunday to try it through all my pedals as they're all in the band practice room.
