I saltboosted my stereo

At last, I've made something useful!
My lappy doesn't have a line-out, just a headphone jack, which when watching iplayer and films we plug into the stereo (we don't got a TV). However it's often still too quiet. Here's the solution- a stereo LPB-1/saltbooster with 3.5mm jacks and a 3-way rotary volume switch. Works preety well. Expected it to be noisy, but it sounds really nice. It's a small Hammond box- my hand isn't massive.

haha
made me think maybe there can be battery powered saltboosters so i can put them between my ipod and headphones so i can outnoise teeny boppers playing rihanna loud on the bus. probably not healthy though lol
though i think it'd safe for me to say ever since mike gave me one, and i'm using my pedalboard, it's a pedal that is actually..never off...like..never. i just don't put thought into it anymore, always on. and i've got some people ask me where i got it, kevin was going to contact mike too for one, i don't know if he has already.

can it be used like a preamp for a record player too?

I don't think so, phono preamps certainly USED to serve a few purposes including
RIAA equalisation, not sure if that's still the case.

Ooh, that's interesting. I didn't know about RIAA equalization and it had previously sailed right over my head in poncey turntable literature.
This thing was gonna use a single opamp like a TL072, but then I realised I'd need to either design a vero layout or etch a pcb. Glad I didn't, as the lo-fi approach is working all-right. Yeah it can be used for an ipod Kim- there's enough room for a battery even in this little case. It would ruinate your ears though!
