that's hideous. framus made 9 string guitars in the 60s and they were a hell of a lot better looking.

Still miles better looking than the Eastwood tenor.
That tuning scheme makes no sense (EADEADGBE). That whole step jump would be maddening.
I like G#/C/E/G#/C/E/G#/C/E or some variation. Could definitely open some doors.
The body shape isn't the best, but I imagine you need to make certain concessions to get that beast balanced.

Fuckpants.
I thought this would be in the style of one of those old Vox 9-stringers, where the top strings are doubled in the style of a 12 string.

I somewhat recall the body shape/style being created by a forum (SevenString.org perhaps?). Kurt, the owner of Rondo has used them to create most of the ERG models.
I wish he was nearly as responsive about his 6 string offerings as he is about the ERG crowd. As the 6 string stock stays fairly stagnant these days.

I love the look of the 8 string, I would actually be interested in one of those, but a 9 string? Not so much, I do like the body shape though.
I just think
this is awesome:
edit: changed the guitar I had pictured first, for one that I liked more.

Holy shit, somebody give this guy a job at R&D.
Seriously, I imagine that's kind of the general line of thinking at tedious boardroom meetings in most guitar companies. It's like the 80s never went away.
"How can we take this new guitar to the next level? The next step? Really evolve the design? That's right! We've come up with some solutions! Not only do we add an extra string, but we add an extra pickup, an extra knob! Not only that, but we're going to add extra spikes onto the existing spikes, with a couple of extra spikes on top of those! We're even going to add spikes onto the back of the neck, making the playing experience extra-heavy metal! This thing is going to ROCK"

Sort of reminds me of this eerily prescient article from The Onion, one of my favorites:

Technical Wankery Confession Time - I enjoy messing around with 6-8 finger tapping, and l always fancied a less expensive alternative to a chapman stick to explore on.

Apparently 10-string classical is tuned A-B-C-D-E-A-D-G-B-E

Speaking of harp-esque guitars, I was messing around the other day with ideas and came up with this:
I think this thing would be awesome. I don't know how the hell I'd tune it, but the two bottom strings would be along the lines of Indian music, where they tune it to the raga being played.
