Stolen Guitars in Seattle 9/13/2010

Post by analogsystem »

Yesterday between 3-4 pm my house in Wallingford was robbed and 2 really special guitars were stolen from me:

1. 2006 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster Pro Closet Classic. Ser. no. 3503 (on neck plate).White with Rosewood fingerboard. This guitar should be easy to spot because it has the big CBS headstock, roller nut, contour heel and custom shop markings. It should be in an unmarked gigbag.
I only had this guitar a week and still have over a thousand bucks on my credit card to pay for this one :'(

2. 1974 Fender Musicmaster / Mustang. I took a mid 70s Musicmaster neck and stuck it on an old black Mustang body. One of the switches has tape over the hole and there's a sticker of a hindu deity on the back. It should be in an SKB hardshell case with foxrox and kreation records stickers.

If anyone sees these in a pawn shop or for sale please let me know!! I am a working musician and these guitars are a big part of my life savings. They also took 150 cds, laptops, jewelery, digital cameras, etc. Any info would be most helpful.

The police incident number is 10-321240
Thanks,
-Dave

Aye. A nightmarish situation.

Is there any sort of insurance available on account of the strat having been bought recently on a credit card?

Thanks dudes,
I bought it with paypal via the gearpage. My paypal goes to my credit card since I don't have any real money. Since the guitar arrived and was stolen from my house later, I doubt they'd do anything about it.

I'm just trying to get as much word out there as possible right now. Calling all the shops, etc.

Damn dude, good luck. I know what it's like, a couple months ago my house was broken into and 5 guitars were stolen from us, one of them being the bass that I've been playing the most recently, and put a lot of money and time into modding it. Luckily for us, they were stolen by some dumbass drug addict kids that had a history of breaking into garages and selling stuff to pawn shops in the area and getting caught. They went to Guitar Center, and our friend that works there recognized my roommate's guitar since he had just worked on it for him, and he called him up and asked if he sold it. My roommate told him it was stolen the night before and so the GC employees stalled the kids while the cops were being called. So we were really lucky that the kids were dumb and we got all our guitars back within 24 hours. Pawn shops are required to log everything against police records, but the officer handling our case told us that Guitar center was not, so we got lucky. I recommend calling all the guitar centers/sam ash's/whatever guitar shops that sell used gear in your area and giving them a detailed description and serial numbers if you have them. If they wind up at a pawn shop then it should get flagged, but just to be safe about the guitar stores, give them all the info you can.

Good luck, I hope you get your guitars back man!

Yep - most guitar stores don't check anything against police reports.

Do you have renter's insurance? If not, GET IT!

that happened to me a few years ago...some asshole stole my rivera knucklehead II straight out of the back out of my band's trailer.
turned up a few days later at a pawn shop 5 minutes from my house...
apparently this guy had done this multiple times and i busted his ass...sent him to jail for some time.

hope it works out for you, man.

I would check with your credit card company. There is often a 30 day insurance on recent purchases. Worst they can say is it is not insured by them, but it might still be. Not sure if going through paypal makes a difference with a credit card transaction.

Thanks guys....realizing all the songs I wrote on that mustang.

Long story short....I always played the same guitar for many years, a USA Hamer studio (which thank god was safe at my rehearsal space) in metal and hard rock bands.

In about 2006 my metal band broke up and I started a more psychedelic 2-guitarist band....I needed that Fender sound but knew I could never afford a real vintage strat or tele.
I found this forum and discovered the Mustang by lurking!
I built that guitar from parts bought on ebay and knowhow I found on THIS site. I haven't posted too much the last couple years as I moved on to other obsessions but the BEST and most used parts-caster I ever built was that Musicmaster/Mustang.

The strat is worth waaaay more but the Mustang was a guitar that had become part of me these last years. It had so much damn vibe and wasn't even worth much being a parts-caster with worn out frets and non-original everything. No serial number. Damn.
