What gear do you regret selling/trading?

I'm sure there must have been one of these threads previously, but search didn't yield anything for me.
Anyway...

There are very few things that I regret getting rid of, but I've recently really been wishing I still had my Orange Rockerverb 50H. I sold it to finance getting my Fender Princeton RI - which I love to bits and don't regret getting one bit, but in retrospect I should have sold my Marshall and kept the Orange. Maybe I'll be able to pick one up cheap now that they have released the RV Mark II range.

So what gear do you wish you still had?

Due to a fairly strict 'one-in-one-out' procedure for buying guitars (usually with my wife's savings, paid back very slowly at my leisure, usually...) any guitar that's gone has given its life to fund the new guitar that replaces it. The ones that stick in my mind are my Jag (an IBM AVRI and the first really brilliant guitar I'd ever had, and my first offset after years of hankering after one; if I didn't have my Jazzmaster now, I'd still be missing this hugely) and my MIJ 52 tele (had an enormous V neck - sold to fund my Jag). Also miss my old Danelectro baritone Longhorn; sold to fund my Jazzmaster though.

I don't regret anything as such, if i'd had the choice i'd have kept my compstang as an investment... But it got me my jag, and mike really wanted it, so no tears shed.

The only thing I really regret selling is my Way Huge Swollen Pickle. I sold it as it sounded shit with the Orange Rocker 30 I had at the time, however I sold that amp not long after I sold the pickle. I reckon it would sound awesome through the Bassman I have now.

Thinking about it I had a 1985/86 Japanese Fender Telecaster Custom, I never really played it that much as I used both my JM's in the band so I sold it on. I don't like having more gear hanging around than I actually use. It was a really nice guitar though.

I meant to ask you this the other day when you mentioned the Jag in a thread I fail to recall now - of the Jag and Jazzmaster, which do you prefer? Did you go for a Jazzmaster to try something different or because you knew it was more suitable for your needs/wishes?

When I was a noob, I tried to put a Squier Vista Jagmaster neck on a current Jagmaster Body. This was before I understood about scale length and that you can't put a 24" neck on a new Jagmaster. I ended up sell the Jagmaster and the Vista Neck. I really regret selling the Vista neck now. Not sure why I sold it. Probably to fund something else. I wish I still had it for my Musicmaster or Mustang projects.

I had a real nice Ampeg Rocket ages ago. It had a great natural overdrive and AMAZING trem and verb. I sold it cause it wasn't loud enough to play with the band I was in at the time. Oh well, now it would be too loud and I have a Jet anyway.

I'm honestly super content with what I have now, and I have yet to find a setup that would work better for what I'm playing. I like the Orange Rocker 30, but it would be just too damn loud. So yeah - no regrets I guess.

Ooh good question. The short answer is my Jazzmaster. The long answer is far more complicated...

I sort of regret loosing the FrankenSonic on the world...

but that's more out of pity for the poor fool that ended up with that beast. It tried to rape my dog once.

It's thoughts like this that make me doubly-sure I don't want to sell my DSL50, despite its current lack of usage. I've been lucky with most stuff, never sold off anything I regretted.. except:

Image
Snarling Dogs "Mold Spore" wah-ringmod. Sold in a fit of poorness for too little on Ebay, doubly-upsetting because I hugely underestimated the postage so took it in the wallet somewhat.

If my fucking Bespeco expression pedal ever gets sent back to my CURRENT address, I'll be able to do the same stuff on the M9, but still..
