I'm trying to identify what are commonly considered to be the really good pedals made by Danelectro.

Here's what I'd like to suggest to begin with:

Cool Cat Fuzz - Really good fuzz pedal for the price.

The French Toast has basically got me interested in playing guitar again.

I wish I would have kept my DD-1 Fabtone Distortion. It was more of a fuzz, and it was a chaotic fuzz at that - but was my first single pedal and had a great sound. I threw it in to sweeten a deal on my multi fx in a fit of nervousness.

Before my days on the internet I even went to a shop to try out another one, I thought someone had modded it to be that fuzzed/distorted

Oops, forget to list tht one. Will add now. I gather the Fabtone is similar to a Boss HM-2?

The cool cat series are good, shame about the hating poofters and ripping off smaller pedal makers thing. I still use my cc fuzz, although it is quite polite as fuzzes go.

I think it's more of a case of which pedals are no good rather than which are good. almost all of the 'food series' and cool cats are good pedals.

Well then, you'll want to add my suggestions and drop the PB&J.

I'm doubtful that would be a consensus view. The PB&J is probably one of the best inexpensive delays pedals of the past twenty years. Which better contemporary delay pedals can you identify at it's price point...?

I get the impression that most of the 'food series' were poor to mediocre to okay. Not many really seem to stand out.

One absolutely shit Danlectro pedal was the Shift Daddy. That's really the subject for another thread though.

I dunno, it may sound controversial but when i found out Dano hated the gay0rx i went out and bought a shitload of their stuff
Every pedal in the Cool Cat range is shockingly good, fact. The 'food series' <_< always seemed to the job, in a meat and potatoes no frills kind of way, the Cadillac models were also great pedals albeit pedalboard unfriendly due to their size/shape.

I have a board full of Cool Cats and they are inspiring, i cant quite pinpoint why but they seem 'clean'... like you are playing without your sound being over processed.

When did that come out though? It don't think it's really a contemporary of the PB&J, which came out about ten years ago.

I've heard good things about the vibe pedal.

Their cases have always looked a bit erm... a matter of taste. But atleast the Cool Cats are fairly small. I've not got the Vibe pedal, but i strongly recommend the others.
My fave has to be the Fuzz because it cleans up with your guitar volume knob like good old Germanium Fuzz Pedals and sounds great no matter what you use. The Chorus is like a CE-2, think 80s band 'House of Love'. I played along to the track 'Christine' when i first got this for days. The TOD is class and exactly what it supposed to be, like a Tubescreamer but with abetter EQ. The Distortion and Metal pedals are as good as most sub £100 models with very good EQ sections.

There is a guy on Youtube named 'gearmandude' that demo's the lot. If you can cope with the Jack Black-a-like voice they are good demo's..
