EHX Knockout

Post by johnnyseven »

Does anyone use or has used one? I have an issue with the difference in loudness between the 2 guitars I use live and I was wondering if one of these would help. I have a humbuckered JM and a regular JM, the regular JM is much brighter and the output is lower and I was thinking that something that this might help smooth the tone out and bring the level up a touch. I have previously used EQ pedals but they tend to muddy the tone up a bit, but this pedal seems to work differently. Any thoughts?

If no-one else will answer, I'll weigh in...

I don't know about the knockout, but listening to your problem, I think I'd get something like a saltbooster and just leave it on all the time for one of the guitars, either slightly higher than unity or slightly lower (on my saltbooster, unity is at about half ten) so I can have it work like a cut.

Sounds great for solos too.

Claims it modifies the attack? I wouldn't want that. I use a tweaked fuzz face clone with the gain turned down low as a volume boost, LPB or SaltBoost sound sensible.

Thanks for the advice. I have a spare boost pedal lying around so i'll see if I can sort my problem using that.
