I've just acquired a second Squier Mini Strat and want to try something I've always wanted to do, make it a Fender 24" scale.I love the first one, but as 22.75 is pretty short anyway, it cramps my hands from playing the small neck after awhile.It's funny how playing a Duo-Sonic with the same scale is less tiring because the neck is larger.The guy with the Duo-Sonic had a 24" scale Mustang and after playing it,if I'm not in love it's least strong lust
I've measured the body and it seems to be the same distance from the neck pocket to the bridge as a standard Strat.I tried an old Squier (full sized) neck I had, and not only did it fit, but after measuring it out, it would intonate with stock bridge as is.
My question is this, would one of the Dou-Sonic,Mustang,Bronco or Jag necks also fit and give me a 24" scale, and intonate as well?If so, it would barely be any longer, but would much more playable.I kept meaning to measure the Mustang neck but fooled around and the guy moved away
Now the mini neck is 20 fret, and I don't know if that makes any difference.If anyone knows if this will work or has access to measure the guitars and necks in question, I'd really appreciate it.I fully expect at some point to have to build this thing, and that's ok, I can hack it, but the curiosity of whether this is possible "as is" is bugging me.If anyone needs any measurements from me, let me know what and where.

To make a 25.5" scale down to a 24", you need a conversion neck. So I would think a body that accepts a 25.5 fine would not necessarily accept a 24. I don't have my 24"ers nearby to measure, though...

The Squier CV Duo Sonic necks and the newer (made in china) Squier Jagmaster necks will come close. Some consider them to be conversion necks. But, my own experience has been that they are slightly too long (1/4" to 5/16") to intonate properly on a strat body. However, the telecaster has a larger intonation adjustment range available on its bridge. So, a telecaster body might work better for this purpose.

i know that the newer jagmaster necks won't work on a 24 scale body, but maybe a 25.5, i really haven't measured or tried, but i put one up on ebay listed as a jagmaster neck but with a jaguar logo and new paint job.

That was yours? I just picked up a new jagmaster neck yesterday from the bay. Would have bid on yours, or got in touch with you for that one.

Correct me if I've read it wrong, but a CV DuoSonic neck should work, right? I was pretty sure before I started this voyage that one of the Jag, or Jagmaster necks would work as well (maybe not just drop right in, but close enough) along with one of the Mustangs.I figured it would play out to which ones would work, then which of those would be most available. Natural human laziness being what it is, I just kind of hoped someone had already done it

I am not exactly sure what you are wanting to do. You want to convert the mini to a 24" scale? Or do you want to turn a strat into a 24" scale?

Is your 90's DuoSonic neck 22" scale or did you mean 22.75" scale?

I've got a CV DuoSonic and a Squier mini strat neck which is 22.75" scale, 20 frets (same as the 90's Chinese Duo if it's 22.75") and it measures out to to be a yes. Some very slight saddle adjustments but it should work.

I think the CV duo neck measures 17 3/8"From nut to heal. So if you add the pocket to saddle distance of your mini to that you should have the answer. If it is close you should be able to adjust the saddles to get it to intonate.
